RIDING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT

Note. On Supra with electronic chassis controls, ensure all systems are functional before adjusting riding height or wheel alignment.

Before adjusting alignment, check riding height. Riding height must be checked with vehicle on level floor and tires properly inflated. Bounce vehicle several times, and allow suspension to settle.

Visually inspect vehicle for signs of abnormal height from front to rear or side to side. Check passenger and luggage compartments for extra heavy items, and remove them if present. If riding height is not within specification, check, repair or replace suspension components. See RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS .

Camry, Celica (FWD) & Corolla

Measure front riding height from ground to center of lower arm mounting bolt/nut. Measure rear riding height from ground to center of strut rod mounting bolt. Strut rod is parallel to side body panel.

Celica All-Trac

Measure front riding height from ground to center of lower arm mounting bolt/nut. Measure rear riding height from ground to center of body side No. 2 suspension arm mounting bolt.

Cressida & Supra

Measure front riding height from ground to center of lower suspension arm mounting bolt. Measure rear riding height from ground to center of No. 2 lower suspension arm mounting bolt.

Land Cruiser

Measure front riding height from ground to center of leading arm bushing bolt/nut. Measure rear riding height from ground to center of lower arm forward mounting bolt.

MR2

Measure front riding height from ground to center of lower arm mounting bolt/nut. Measure rear riding height from ground to center of lower arm inboard mounting nut.

Pickup (2WD)

Measure front riding height from ground to center of lower arm mounting bolt. Measure rear riding height from ground to center of front leaf spring mounting bolt. (Scheme 1)

Scheme 1

Scheme 1: Pickup (2WD)

Pickup (4WD) & 4Runner

  1. Measure front riding height from ground to center of lower arm mounting bolt. Measure rear riding height from ground to center of front leaf spring. (Scheme 1) To check for standard height differential, go to next step.
  2. Measure front riding height differential by comparing height at center tip of spindle to height at center of lower arm adjustment cam bolt. Difference between measurements should be 2.303" (58.50 mm).
  3. Measure rear riding height differential by comparing height at center of front leaf spring mounting bolt to height at centerline of rear axle shaft. On Pickup (4WD), difference between measurements should be 2.402" (61.00 mm). On 4Runner, difference between measurements should be 1.403" (26.50 mm).

Previa

Measure front riding height from ground to center of lower arm mounting bolt. Measure rear riding height from ground to center of rear lower control arm forward mounting bolt.

Tercel

Measure front riding height from ground to center of lower arm mounting bolt/nut. Measure rear riding height from ground to center of trailing arm forward mounting bolt. Trailing arm is parallel to side body panel.
