Removal & Installation - A/t: Overview Suzuki X-90 I

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable at transaxle and at battery. Disconnect transaxle wiring harness and clamps. Disconnect gear select cable from transaxle. Drain cooling system and remove water intake hose.
  2. Remove transaxle-to-engine bolts. Remove starter. Remove exhaust manifold shield. Support engine. From under hood, remove or disconnect any other transaxle components that require underhood access.
  3. Raise and support vehicle. Drain fluid. Remove engine dust shields. Disconnect oil cooler hoses. Remove mounts, engine-to-transaxle stiffener and exhaust pipe. Remove flywheel dust shield and drive plate bolts. Pry out axle shaft joints from differential. Disconnect lower suspension arms and pull axle shafts from differential.
  4. Remove rear engine mount and bracket. Remove engine-to-transaxle bolts and nuts. Support engine with a transmission jack. Remove left-side engine mount. Remove transaxle and torque converter from engine compartment. Ensure torque converter does not fall off transaxle. Remove left-side engine mount from transaxle case.
  1. Install torque converter on transaxle. Measure distance from edge of transaxle case to torque converter mounting flange. Distance should be .929-1.002" (23.6-25.5 mm). If measured distance is less than specification, torque converter is not installed correctly.
  2. To install transaxle, reverse removal procedures. Ensure oil seals are not damaged when axle shafts are installed. Push in axle shafts, DO NOT hit axle shafts with a hammer during installation. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-91660-S34292316752001032600000) . Check fluid level and adjust as necessary. Road test vehicle and check for leaks.
