BALL JOINT CHECKING
Check ball joint stud for rotation smoothness and inspect for play in ball joint. If ball joint is worn or damaged, replace lower control arm and ball joint as an assembly.
WHEEL BEARINGS
Wheel bearings are not adjustable. To check wheel bearing(s) for excessive wear, raise and support vehicle. Remove hub center dust cover and mount a dial indicator to measure wheel hub thrust play. Grasp wheel and apply push/pull force in and out. Note indicator reading. Replace bearing if movement exceeds .016" (.41 mm).
