CAUTION

  1. Wear working clothing, including a cap, protective goggles, and protective shoes during operation.
  2. Remove contamination including dirt and corrosion before removal, installation or disassembly.
  3. Keep the disassembled parts in order and protect them from dust or dirt.
  4. Before removal, installation or disassembly, be sure to clarify the failure. Avoid unnecessary removal, installation, disassembly, and replacement.
  5. Use SUBARU genuine grease etc. or the equivalent. Do not mix grease etc. with that of another grade or from other manufacturers.
  6. Be sure to tighten fasteners including bolts and nuts to the specified torque.
  7. Place shop jacks or safety stands at the specified points.
  8. Apply gear oil onto sliding or revolution surfaces before installation.
  9. Before installing O-rings or snap rings, apply sufficient amount of gear oil to avoid damage and deformation.
  10. Before securing a part on a vice, place cushioning material such as wood blocks, aluminum plate, or shop cloth between the part and the vice.
  11. Avoid damaging the mating face of the case.

Scheme 132: REPLACEMENT
  1. Disconnect ground terminal from battery.
  2. Jack-up vehicle and support it with sturdy racks.
  3. Remove the oil drain plug and filler plug, and drain the gear oil. CAUTION: Be careful not to burn your hands, because gear oil becomes extremely hot after running. (Scheme 132): Draining The Gear Oil
  4. Tighten oil drain plug. CAUTION: Apply fluid packing to oil drain plug. Fluid packing: THREE BOND 1105 or equivalent Tightening torque: 49.0 N.m (5.0 kgf-m, 36.2 ft-lb)
  5. Fill differential carrier with gear oil to the upper plug level. CAUTION: Carefully refill oil while watching the level. Excess or insufficient oil must be avoided. Oil capacity: T-type; 0.8 (0.8 US qt, 0.7 Imp qt) VA-type; 0.9 (1.0 US qt, 0.8 Imp qt)
  6. Install filler plug. (Scheme 132) CAUTION: Apply fluid packing to oil drain plug. Fluid packing: THREE BOND 1105 or equivalent Tightening torque: T-type; 49.0 N.m (5.0 kgf-m, 36.2 ft-lb) VA-type; 34 N.m (3.5 kgf-m, 25.3 ft-lb)
