GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The development of new Legacy turbo engine is called "environment friendly turbo", and the engine is newly designed as next generation turbo engine that has both high environmental performance and output performance.
Based on the high quality 2.5 L turbo engine that won 2006 and 2008 International Engine of the Year in UK, the installation position of the turbocharger has been changed from engine right rear to exhaust port bottom in order to improve response performance. Also, as synergy of this change, the catalytic temperature rising performance has been improved, noble metal amount has decreased by half without adopting the existing secondary air system, and the exhaust gas performance is ensured at one rank higher level than the existing model.
Actual fuel economy has been improved from the existing model through friction reduction at various positions and cooling system review in addition to weight reduction by the installation position change of turbo charger. The environment friendly turbo has achieved not only "low fuel consumption" but also "strength in non-supercharging range", "flat torque from low revolution in full load range", and "vigorous revolution increase feel".
