COMMUNICATION TABLE
Description Of Functions
- Description of the seat belt warning system Driver's seat belt warning light: If the driver's seat belt is not fastened with IG ON, the front seat belt warning light in the combination meter assembly will blink to warn the driver. The combination meter assembly displays the status of the driver's seat belt and the vehicle speed. Passenger's seat belt warning light: If the passenger's seat belt is not fastened with IG ON and the passenger's seat occupied, the front seat belt warning light in the tell taillight assembly will blink. The combination meter assembly detects the status of the passenger's seat belt and whether the passenger's seat is occupied or not. Seat belt warning buzzer: Check that the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds at 1.2 second intervals for 6 seconds if the driver's seat belt is not fastened within 1.8 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to ON. If the vehicle speed exceeds 20 km/h with the passenger's seat occupied and the driver's or the passenger's seat belt not fastened, the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly will sound once. If 30 seconds have passed after the buzzer starts sounding, the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds at 1.2 second intervals and continue to sound for 30 seconds. After that, it sounds at 0.4 second intervals for approx. 90 seconds.
- Functions of the main parts Parts Function Front seat inner belt (driver's buckle switch) Communicates the status of the driver's seat belt (fastened or unfastened) to the combination meter assembly. Front seat inner belt (passenger's buckle switch) Communicates the status of the passenger's seat belt (fastened or unfastened) to the occupant detection ECM. Occupant detection sensor Communicates the status of the passenger's seat (occupied or not occupied) to the occupant detection ECM. Occupant detection ECM Transmits the passenger's seat belt buckle switch signal and the occupant detection signal to the airbag sensor assembly. Airbag control module Transmits the passenger's seat belt buckle switch signal to the combination meter assembly. Driver's seat belt warning light If the driver's seat belt is not fastened with IG ON, the combination meter will make the seat belt warning light in the combination meter assembly blink as a reminder. Passenger's seat belt warning light If the passenger's seat belt is not fastened with IG ON and the passenger's seat occupied, the combination meter will make the seat belt warning light in the tell taillight assembly blink as a reminder. Seat belt warning buzzer If the vehicle speed exceeds 20 km/h (12.5 mph) with one of the following conditions met, the buzzer in the combination meter assembly will sound as a reminder: The driver's seat belt is not fastened. The passenger's seat is occupied and the passenger's seat belt is not fastened. Skid control ECM Transmits the vehicle speed signal to the combination meter assembly via the CAN communication.
Operation Check
- Inspection of the driver's seat belt warning light Turn the ignition switch to ON. Check that the front seat belt warning light in the combination meter assembly blinks when the driver's seat belt is not fastened.
- Inspection of the passenger's seat belt warning light Turn the ignition switch to ON. Check that the passenger's seat belt warning light in the tell taillight assembly blinks when the passenger's seat belt is not fastened with the passenger's seat occupied. With the passenger's seat occupied, insert the seat belt tongue plate in the buckle, and check that the front seat belt warning light in the tell taillight assembly goes off.
- Inspection of the seat belt warning buzzer NOTE: If the buzzer does not sound, the buzzer cancel setting may be turned on. (Refer to «OPERATION CHECK»(ref-619179-S33427178142014053000000) ) Lift up the vehicle by using the swing arm lift. (Refer to «WORKING PRECAUTIONS AND NOTES»(ref-619149-S01292846772014053000000) ) Turn the ignition switch to ON. Occupy the driver's seat and the passenger's seat, and unfasten the seat belts of the both seats. CAUTION: Be careful not to touch the seat backrest while sitting on the seat. With the driver's or passenger's seat belt tongue plate not inserted in the buckle, drive the vehicle at approx. 20 km/h or above. In this condition, check that the buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds at 1.2 second intervals for 30 seconds, and then sounds at 0.4 second intervals for 90 seconds. Check that the buzzer stops sounding 2 minutes after it first started to sound. After the buzzer stops sounding, turn the ignition switch to OFF, and then start the engine again. Drive the vehicle at approx. 20 km/h or above with the driver's or passenger's seat belt tongue plate not inserted in the buckle, and check that the buzzer sounds again. After the buzzer stops sounding, insert the driver's and passenger's seat belt tongue plates in the buckles. Drive the vehicle at approx. 20 km/h or above, unfasten the driver's or passenger's seat belt, and check that the buzzer sounds again. After the buzzer stops sounding, change the shift position to R, and then to D. With the seat belt tongue plate not inserted in the buckle, drive the vehicle at approx. 20 km/h or above, and check that the buzzer sounds again.
DESCRIPTION
The combination meter assembly illuminates, blinks or turns off the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly in accordance with the state of the front seat inner belt assembly LH.
Note. The seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly is used for both the driver seat and front passenger seat.
