Entertainment System: Removal & Installation Subaru BRZ ZC

Removal

  1. Disconnection of the battery ground terminal (Refer to «WORKING PRECAUTIONS AND NOTES»(ref-619149-S01292846772014053000000) )
  2. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel SUB-ASSY CTR. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619171-S10625232862014053000000) )
  3. Remove the navigation ASSY. Undo the four bolts and pull out the navigation ASSY toward the rear of the vehicle. Disconnect each connector and remove the navigation ASSY.
  4. Remove the navigation bracket No. 1. Undo the four screws and remove the navigation bracket No. 1 from the navigation ASSY.
  5. Remove the navigation bracket No. 2. NOTE: Perform the same procedure as with the navigation bracket No. 1.

Installation

  1. Install the navigation bracket No. 1. Install the navigation bracket No. 1 onto the navigation ASSY and fasten the four screws.
  2. Install the navigation bracket No. 2. NOTE: Perform the same procedure as with the navigation bracket No. 1.
  3. Install the navigation ASSY. Connect each connector. Install the navigation ASSY in place with the four bolts.
  4. Install the instrument cluster finish panel SUB-ASSY CTR. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S13239309002014053000000) )
  5. Connection of the battery ground terminal Standard value: T=6.0N.m {61kgf.cm} {4.4 ft.lbf}
  6. Settings when connecting/disconnecting battery terminals (Refer to «SETTING PROCEDURES AT PARTS REPLACEMENT AND REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-619149-S03626890362014053000000) )

Scheme 10: Removal
  1. Remove the door armrest cover LH. (Refer to «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-619177-S39195428832014053000000) )
  2. Remove the front door trim board SUB-ASSY LH. (Refer to «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-619177-S39195428832014053000000) )
  3. Remove the speaker ASSY FR No. 1. CAUTION: Do not touch the speaker ASSY FR No. 1 cone. Disconnect the connector. Undo the three screws and remove the speaker ASSY FR No. 1.

Note. The following procedure is for LH side. This same LH side procedure can also be used for the RH side.

  1. Install the speaker ASSY FR No. 1. CAUTION: Do not touch the speaker ASSY FR No. 1 cone. Install the speaker ASSY FR No. 1 and fasten the three screws. Connect the connector.
  2. Install the front door trim board SUB-ASSY LH. (Refer to «ASSEMBLY»(ref-619177-S05968310512014053000000) )
  3. Install the door armrest cover LH. (Refer to «ASSEMBLY»(ref-619177-S05968310512014053000000) )

Scheme 11: Unit Inspection
  1. Inspect the speaker ASSY FR No. 1. CAUTION: Do not touch the speaker ASSY FR No. 1 cone. When installing the speaker ASSY FR No. 1, always confirm that there are no abnormalities such as looseness or excessive play. Check that no foreign objects have entered into the speaker ASSY FR No. 1, and that there are no abnormalities such tearing or damage to the cone paper. Disconnect the speaker ASSY FR No. 1 connector. Measure the resistance between the terminals. RESISTANCE Inspection terminals Inspection conditions Standard value 1 - 2 Always 2.6 to 3.2 ohms NOTE: This inspection is carried out without removing the speaker ASSY FR No. 1.

  1. Disconnect the front door opening trim weather strip LH. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619171-S22438292632014053000000) )
  2. Remove the front door scuff plate LH. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619171-S22438292632014053000000) )
  3. Remove the separate-type rear seat cushion ASSY. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619178-S12224796002014053000000) )
  4. Disconnect the trunk trim cover INN LH. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619171-S22438292632014053000000) )
  5. Remove the quarter lower trim LH. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619171-S22438292632014053000000) )
  6. Remove the speaker ASSY RR. CAUTION: Do not touch the speaker ASSY RR cone. Disconnect the connector. Undo the two screws and remove the speaker ASSY RR.

Note. The following procedure is for LH side. This same LH side procedure can also be used for the RH side.

  1. Install the speaker ASSY RR. CAUTION: Do not touch the speaker ASSY RR cone. Install the speaker ASSY RR and fasten the two screws. Connect the connector.
  2. Install the quarter lower trim LH. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S01034893762014053000000) )
  3. Install the trunk trim cover INN LH. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S01034893762014053000000) )
  4. Install the separate-type rear seat cushion ASSY. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619178-S13922250802014053000000) )
  5. Install the front door scuff plate LH. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S01034893762014053000000) )
  6. Install the front door opening trim weather strip LH. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S01034893762014053000000) )

Scheme 14: Unit Inspection
  1. Inspect the speaker ASSY RR. CAUTION: Do not touch the speaker ASSY RR cone. When installing the speaker, always confirm that there are no abnormalities such as looseness or excessive play. Check that no foreign objects have entered into the speaker, and that there are no abnormalities such cone paper tearing. Resistance check Disconnect the speaker ASSY RR connector. Measure the resistance between connector terminals. RESISTANCE Inspection terminals Inspection conditions Standard value 1 - 2 Always 3.7 - 4.7 ohms NOTE: This inspection is carried out without removing the speaker ASSY RR.

  1. Remove the instrument panel speaker panel SUB-ASSY No. 1. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619171-S19601014542014053000000) )
  2. Remove the speaker ASSY FR No. 2. Unhook the three tabs and remove the speaker ASSY FR No. 2 from the instrument panel speaker panel SUB-ASSY No. 1.
  3. Remove the speaker ASSY FR No. 3. CAUTION: Do not touch the speaker cone. Undo the two bolts and remove the speaker ASSY FR No. 3. Disconnect the connector.

Note. Here we will show the procedure for the RH side. This same RH side procedure can also be used for the LH side.

  1. Install the speaker ASSY FR No. 3. CAUTION: Do not touch the speaker cone. Connect the connector. Install the speaker ASSY FR No. 3 and fasten the two bolts. Standard value: T=7.5N.m {77kgf.cm} {5.5 ft.lbf}
  2. Install the speaker ASSY FR No. 2. Engage the three tabs and install the speaker ASSY FR No. 2 onto the instrument panel speaker panel SUB-ASSY No. 1.
  3. Install the instrument panel speaker panel SUB-ASSY No. 1. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S10761645632014053000000) )

  1. Inspect the speaker ASSY FR No. 2. When installing the speaker, always confirm that there are no abnormalities such as looseness or excessive play. Check that no foreign objects have entered into the speaker, and that there are no abnormalities such cone paper tearing. Resistance check Measure the resistance between the terminals. RESISTANCE Inspection terminals Inspection conditions Standard value 1(+) - 2(+) Always 2.8 to 3.8ohms 3(-) - 4(-) Always 2.8 to 3.8ohms
  2. Inspect the speaker ASSY FR No. 3. Check that no foreign objects have entered into the speaker ASSY FR No. 3, confirm that the cone is not damaged and there are no other abnormalities. Measure the speaker ASSY FR No. 3 resistance. RESISTANCE Inspection terminals Inspection conditions Standard value 1 - 2 Always 3.7 - 4.7ohms NOTE: This inspection is carried out without removing the speaker ASSY FR No. 3.

  1. Remove the trunk floor mat. Remove the trunk floor mat.
  2. Remove the amplifier ASSY (with attached bracket). Unhook the clips and remove the rear seat back cover. Disconnect the clamps and wiring harness from the stereo component amplifier bracket. Disconnect the two connectors from the stereo component amplifier. Undo the three nuts and take off the stereo component amplifier ASSY (with attached bracket).
  3. Remove the amplifier bracket. Undo the four screws and remove the amplifier bracket.
  1. Install the amplifier bracket. Install the amplifier bracket in place with the four screws.
  2. Install the amplifier ASSY (with attached bracket). Install the amplifier ASSY (with attached bracket) and fasten the three nuts. Standard value: T=7.5N.m {77kgf.cm} {5.5ft.lbf} Connect the two connectors to the stereo component amplifier ASSY (with attached bracket). Fasten the clamp to connect the wiring harness to the amplifier cover. Engage the clips and install the rear seat back cover.
  3. Install the trunk floor mat. Install the trunk floor mat.

  2. Remove the roof head lining ASSY. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619171-S22438292632014053000000) )
  3. Remove the roof antenna pole SUB-ASSY. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619165-S10855178782014053000000) )
  4. Remove the amplifier antenna ASSY. Disconnect the connector. Remove the antenna nut. Unhook the two tabs and remove the amplifier antenna ASSY.
  5. Remove the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 3. Release the three clamps and remove the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 3.

Scheme 31: Installation
  1. Install the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 3. Fasten the three clamps and install the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 3.
  2. Install the amplifier antenna ASSY. Attach the two sets of tabs of the amplifier antenna ASSY to the roof. Move the antenna cord so that it sticks out toward the rear of the vehicle, and attach the antenna nut. Standard value: T=4.5N.m {46kgf.cm} {3.3 ft.lbf} Connect the connector.
  3. Install the roof antenna pole SUB-ASSY. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619165-S37175752402014053000000) )
  4. Install the roof head lining ASSY. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S01034893762014053000000) )
  5. Connection of the battery ground terminal Standard value: T=6.0N.m {61kgf.cm} {4.4ft.lbf}

  1. Precautions CAUTION: After turning the ignition switch to OFF, you may have to wait for a while before disconnecting the battery terminals. Check appropriate precautions for battery terminal disconnection before proceeding. (Refer to «WORKING PRECAUTIONS AND NOTES»(ref-619149-S01292846772014053000000) )
  2. Disconnection of the battery ground terminal Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground terminal, and then wait for 60 seconds before starting the work. WARNING: As the airbag and pretensioner system is equipped with a backup power supply, if you start work within 60 seconds of disconnecting the battery ground terminal, the airbag may accidently deploy.
  3. Remove the instrument panel SUB-ASSY. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619171-S19601014542014053000000) )
  4. Remove the air conditioner radiator ASSY. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619182-S26487646652014053000000) )
  5. Remove the antenna cord SUB-ASSY. Turn over the front end of the driver's seat floor mat. Disconnect each connector. Release the ten clamps and remove the antenna cord SUB-ASSY.
  1. Install the antenna cord SUB-ASSY. Fasten the ten clamps and install the antenna cord SUB-ASSY. Connect each connector. Return the floor mat to its original position.
  2. Install the air conditioner radiator ASSY. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619182-S02843843182014053000000) )
  3. Install the instrument panel SUB-ASSY. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S10761645632014053000000) )
  4. Connection of the battery ground terminal Standard value: T=6.0N.m {61kgf.cm} {4.4ft.lbf}
  5. Inspect the airbag warning light. (Refer to «AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION PATTERN»(ref-619160-S12522069062014053000000) )
  6. Settings when connecting/disconnecting battery terminals (Refer to «SETTING PROCEDURES AT PARTS REPLACEMENT AND REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-619149-S03626890362014053000000) )

  2. Remove the roof head lining ASSY. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619171-S22438292632014053000000) )
  3. Remove the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 2. Remove the two pieces of fixing tape. Release the eight clamps and remove the antenna cord No. 2 from the roof head lining ASSY.

Scheme 37: Installation
  1. Install the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 2. Set the positioning tape areas of the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 2 so that it matches the diagram, and fasten the eight clamps. Install the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 2 along the marked line on the roof head lining using the fixing tape. NOTE: Secure the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 2 in the order indicated in the diagram. Cut the fixing tape to the necessary length (recommended: 50 mm x 80 mm, 2.0 in x3.2 in) to use. When applying the second piece of fixing tape, pull any slack in the antenna cord SUB-ASSY No. 2 in the direction indicated by the arrow in the diagram before securing it in place.
  2. Install the roof head lining ASSY. (Refer to «SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM»(ref-619160-S11196911262014053000000) )
  3. Connection of the battery ground terminal Standard value: T=6.0N.m {61kgf.cm} {4.4ft.lbf}
  4. Settings when connecting/disconnecting battery terminals (Refer to «SETTING PROCEDURES AT PARTS REPLACEMENT AND REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-619149-S03626890362014053000000) )

  2. Install the microphone ASSY. Engage the two tabs and install the microphone ASSY. Connect the connector.

  4. Remove the instrument panel junction block ASSY. (Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-619154-S18264387212014053000000) )
  5. Remove the noise filter. Disconnect the connector. Release the two clamps. Release the guide and remove the noise filter.
  1. Install the noise filter. Press in the guide and install the noise filter. Fasten the two clamps. Connect the connector.
  2. Install the instrument panel junction block ASSY. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619154-S02363636512014053000000) )
  3. Install the instrument panel under cover SUB-ASSY No. 1. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619166-S34162213212014053000000) )
  4. Install the instrument side panel LH. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S13239309002014053000000) )
  5. Connection of the battery ground terminal Standard value: T=6.0N.m {61kgf.cm} {4.4ft.lbf}
