HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

HINT

  1. Use the following procedures to troubleshoot the air conditioning system.
  2. *: Use a Techstream.
  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP NEXT: Go to next step
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE Inspect the battery voltage. Standard voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding. NEXT: Go to next step
  3. CHECK COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* Use a Techstream to check if the CAN Communication System is functioning normally. Result Result Proceed to CAN DTC is not output A CAN DTC is output B B --> Go to CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to «PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE»(ref-388782-S38885628272011031100000) A: Go to next step
  4. CHECK FOR DTC* Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output. HINT: Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-388750-S24914727972011031100000) . Delete the DTCs. Recheck for DTCs. Based on the DTCs output above, try to force output of the A/C system DTC by simulating the operation indicated by the DTC. Result Result Proceed to DTC is not output A DTC is output B B --> Go to step 7 A: Go to next step

DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM

DTC CHECK / CLEAR

  1. CHECK DTC Connect a Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the tester on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air conditioner / Trouble Codes / Read the DTCs.
  2. CLEAR DTC Connect a Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the tester on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air conditioner / Trouble Codes / Erase the DTCs.

DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. DATA LIST HINT: Using a Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensor, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may by discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not. Warm up the engine. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the tester on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Data List / According to the display on tester, read the "Data List".   2. ACTIVE TEST HINT: Using a Techstream to Perform the Active Tests allows relays, VSVs and actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests. Connect a Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the tester on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test / According to the display on tester, perform the "Active Test". HINT

  1. *1: If the ambient temperature is approximately -52.9°C (-63.22°F) or lower, DTC B1412 may be output even though the system is normal.
  2. *2: The A/C amplifier memorizes the DTC of the respective malfunction if it has occurred for the period of time indicated in the brackets.
