INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL COOLING FAN MOTOR Install the fan with the 3 bolts. Install the wire harness clamp.
2. INSTALL NO. 2 COOLING FAN MOTOR Install the No. 2 fan with the 3 bolts. Install the wire harness clamp.
3. INSTALL FAN Install the cooling fan motor with the nut.
4. INSTALL NO. 2 FAN Install the No. 2 cooling fan motor with the nut.

1. REMOVE NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK COVER
2. INSPECT NO. 1 FAN RELAY (FAN NO. 1) Remove the relay from the engine room relay block. Measure the resistance of the relay. Standard resistance TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFICATION Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 When battery voltage absent 10 ohms or higher 3 - 5 When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay. Install the relay.
3. INSPECT NO. 2 FAN RELAY (FAN NO. 2) Remove the relay from the engine room relay block. Measure the resistance of the relay. Standard resistance RESISTANCE REFERENCE Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 4 When battery voltage absent Below 1 ohms 3 - 5 When battery voltage absent 10 ohms or higher 3 - 4 When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 10 ohms or higher 3 - 5 When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay. Install the relay.
4. INSPECT NO. 3 FAN RELAY (FAN NO. 3) Remove the relay from the engine room relay block. Measure the resistance of the relay. Standard resistance RESISTANCE REFERENCE Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 When battery voltage absent 10 ohms or higher 3 - 5 When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay. Install the relay.

1. CHECK RADIATOR RESERVOIR CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Measure the valve opening pressure. If there are water stains or foreign matter on CD-ring 1, clean it with water and finger scouring. Check that O-ring 1 is not deformed, cracked or swollen. Apply engine coolant to O-ring 1 and rubber packing 2 before using a radiator cap tester. When using the cap tester, tilt it more than 30 degrees. Pump the cap tester several times, and check the maximum pressure. Even if the cap cannot maintain the maximum pressure, it is not a defect. Pump speed: 1 pump per second Judgment criterion ITEM SPECIFICATION Item Specified Condition Standard value (for brand-new cap) 93.3 to 122.7 kPa (0.95 to 1.25 kgf/ cm 2 , 13.5 to 17.8 psi) Minimum standard value (after using cap) 78.5 kPa (0.8 kgf/cm 2 , 11.4 psi) If the maximum pressure is less than the minimum standard value, replace the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly.

1. INSPECT RADIATOR ASSEMBLY Check that the radiator and condenser are not blocked with leaves, dirt, or insects. Clean the hose connections. If the fins are blocked, wash them with water or a steam cleaner. NOTE: If the distance between the steam cleaner and core is too close, the fins may be damaged. Keep the following injection distance. Standard injection distance PRESSURE SPECIFICATION Injection Pressure Specified Condition 2,942 to 4,903 kPa (30 to 50 kgf/cm 2 , 427 to 711 psi) 300 mm (11.81 in.) 4,903 to 7,845 kPa (50 to 80 kgf/cm 2 , 711 to 1,138 psi) 500 mm (19.69 in.) NOTE: If the fins are bent, straighten them with a screwdriver or pliers. Never apply water directly onto the electronic components. Dry the fins with compressed air.

6. REMOVE BATTERY Separate the negative and positive battery terminals. Remove the bolt and loosen the nut, and remove the battery carrier. Remove the battery insulator and battery. Remove the battery tray.
7. SEPARATE NO. 1 WATER HOSE CLAMP BRACKET Disconnect the 2 water hoses. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the No. 1 water hose clamp bracket.
8. SEPARATE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY Separate the hood lock control cable from the hood lock, as shown in the illustration. Disengage the clamp and separate the hood lock control cable.
9. REMOVE HOOD LOCK SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY Disconnect the 2 hone connectors. Remove the 2 bolts and hood lock support.
10. DISCONNECT INLET RADIATOR HOSE Disengage the heated oxygen sensor wire harness clamp. Disconnect the inlet radiator hose.
11. DISCONNECT OUTLET RADIATOR HOSE Disconnect the outlet radiator hose as shown in the illustration.
12. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT CUSHION Remove the 2 radiator support cushions from the No. 2 fan shroud.
13. REMOVE NO. 2 FAN SHROUD Disconnect the 2 fan motor connectors. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 fan shroud.
14. SEPARATE DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See «REMOVAL»(ref-289743-S22988430552008070700000) )
15. SEPARATE AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY (See «REMOVAL»(ref-289743-S22988430552008070700000) )

17. DISCONNECT NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS HOSE Disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose from the radiator.
18. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the radiator, (for Automatic Transaxle) Remove the radiator from the vehicle.
19. REMOVE LOWER RADIATOR SUPPORT Remove the 2 lower radiator supports.
20. REMOVE INLET RADIATOR HOSE Separate the hose clamp from the fan shroud. Remove the inlet radiator hose from the radiator.
21. REMOVE OUTLET RADIATOR HOSE Remove the outlet radiator hose from the radiator.
22. REMOVE FAN SHROUD Remove the 2 bolts and fan shroud from the radiator.

1. INSTALL FAN SHROUD Install the fan shroud with the 2 bolts onto the radiator. Torque: 7.0 N*m (71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf)
2. INSTALL OUTLET RADIATOR HOSE Install the radiator hose as shown in the illustration.
3. INSTALL INLET RADIATOR HOSE Install the inlet radiator hose as shown in the illustration. Install the hose clamp onto the fan shroud.
4. INSTALL LOWER RADIATOR SUPPORT Install the 2 radiator supports onto the radiator.
5. INSTALL RADIATOR ASSEMBLY Set the radiator onto the vehicle. Connect the 2 oil cooler hoses onto the radiator, (for Automatic Transaxle)

9. CONNECT NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS HOSE Connect the No. 1 water by-pass hose onto the radiator.
10. INSTALL NO. 2 FAN SHROUD Install the No. 2 fan shroud with the 2 bolts onto the radiator. Torque: 7.0 N*m (71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 fan motor connectors.
11. INSTALL RADIATOR SUPPORT CUSHION Install the 2 radiator support cushions onto the No. 2 fan shroud.
12. CONNECT OUTLET RADIATOR HOSE Connect the outlet radiator hose as shown in the illustration.
13. CONNECT INLET RADIATOR HOSE Connect the inlet radiator hose as shown in the illustration. Engage the heated oxygen sensor wire harness clamp.
14. INSTALL HOOD LOCK SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY Install the hood lock support with the 4 bolts onto the radiator support cushion. Torque: 13 N*m (127 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) Connect the 2 hone connectors.
15. INSTALL HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY Install the hood lock control cable as shown in the illustration. Engage the clamp onto the hood lock support.
16. INSTALL NO. 1 WATER HOSE CLAMP BRACKET Install the No. 1 water hose clamp bracket with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 water hoses as shown in the illustration.

20. INSTALL BATTERY Install the battery tray. Install the battery and battery insulator. Install the battery carrier with the bolt and nut. Torque: Bolt 17 N*m (168 kgf*cm, 12 ft.lbf) Nut 3.5 N*m (35 kgf*cm, 31 in.*lbf) Connect the positive and negative terminals. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
