Starter Dead - Solenoid Does Not Click
- Check IGN 3 (30-amp) fuse. Check Red wire circuit between IGN 3 (30-amp) fuse and ignition switch.
- On M/T models, check Yellow wire circuit between ignition switch and clutch start switch. Check Purple wire circuit between clutch start switch and underhood junction block located in engine compartment on inner fender panel. Check Purple wire circuit between underhood junction block and starter solenoid.
- On A/T models, check Yellow wire circuit between ignition switch and underhood junction block located in engine compartment, on inner fender panel. Check Purple wire circuit between underhood junction block and transaxle position switch. Check Purple wire circuit between transaxle position switch and starter solenoid.
- On all models, check ignition switch, clutch start switch (M/T), transaxle position switch (A/T), theft deterrent and starter/solenoid. Perform a battery load test. See «BATTERY/STARTER LOAD TEST (ARBST TEST)»(ref-667-S23507730162000031300000) .
Starter Dead - Solenoid Clicks
Check battery cable wire circuit (Red) between battery positive terminal and starter solenoid contacts. Check starter/solenoid. Perform a battery load test. See BATTERY/STARTER LOAD TEST (ARBST TEST) . Check for mechanical engine seizure due to extreme cold conditions or mechanical failure.
Starter Cranks Slowly
Check battery cables. Perform battery load test (ARBST) and ARBST starter test. See BATTERY/STARTER LOAD TEST (ARBST TEST) . Check starter/solenoid and starter mating surfaces. Check for mechanical engine freeze up due to extreme cold conditions or mechanical failure.
Starter Does Not Engage
Check starter/solenoid. Check flywheel-to-pinion gap.
