Body Control Module (BCM) Replacement and Reprogramming
If the BCM is replaced or requires reprogramming, the following procedures must be performed in the specified order
- BCM Setup - Using a scan tool, go to Vehicle Control Systems » Computer/Integrating Systems » Module Setup » Body Control Module. Select Setup BCM and follow the on-screen instructions, making sure to select the proper RPOs and input the VIN correctly.
- BPP Sensor Calibration. Refer to «Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration»(ref-269782-S34146257642007110200000)
- Program Key Fobs. Refer to «Transmitter Programming»(ref-269801-S30907470452007110200000)
- Setup SDM Part Number in BCM - Using a scan tool, go to Vehicle Control Systems » Computer/Integrating Systems » Module Setup » Body Control Module. Select Setup SDM Part Number in BCM and follow the on-screen instructions.
Communication Interface Module Replacement
If the OnStar® communication interface module is replaced, the setup procedure needs to be performed. Please refer to OnStar Reconfiguration .
Radio Replacement
If the digital radio receiver is replaced, the following procedure must be performed
Perform the digital radio receiver setup. Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Setup .
EBCM Replacement
If the electronic brake control module (EBCM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed
EBCM Reprogramming. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Setup for Component Replacement
The replacement of the electronic brake control module (EBCM), and the steering wheel position sensor (SWPS) or SWPS diagnostics procedures will require the scan tool steering position sensor calibration procedure for complete repair. Refer to Steering Angle Sensor Centering
ECM Replacement
If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed
- ECM Reprogramming. Refer to «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-269797-S05969675292007110200000) .
- Crankshaft Position (CKP) Variation Learn. Refer to «Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn»(ref-269804-S34141999202007110200000) .
The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.
If any of the following components are replaced, a CKP Variation Learn Procedure must be performed. Refer to Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn .
- Engine replacement
- Any engine repair that disturbs the CKP sensor or it's relationship with the crankshaft reluctor wheel
- CKP sensor
Radio Replacement (US8 and US9)
If the radio is replaced, the new radio must have the setup procedure performed. Refer to Radio Setup .
Radio Replacement (U1C)
To setup a new radio for the vehicle, complete the Module Replacement/Setup procedure under the Radio menu of the scan tool. Cycle ignition when complete.
Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement
If the remote control door lock receiver is replaced, the following setup procedure must be performed with the scan tool
- Install a scan tool.
- Turn On the ignition with the engine OFF.
- Select Body.
- Select Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR).
- Select Module Setup.
- Select Setup New RCDLR.
- Follow the scan tool instructions.
- Remove scan tool and exit vehicle when setup is done.
