Circuit/System Verification

Test the charging system. Refer to Charging System Test (Acadia or Enclave) or Charging System Test (OUTLOOK) .

Symptoms - Secondary and Configurable Customer Controls

IMPORTANTPerform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle before using the Symptom Tables in order to verify that all of the following conditions are true: There are no DTCs set. The control modules can communicate via the serial data link. Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to Steering Wheel Controls Description and Operation .

Intermittent

Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .

Control Module References for scan tool information

  1. Ensure the primary controls of the associated component are functioning properly.
  2. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool SWC Bank 1 parameter while pressing and releasing the right steering wheel control switches. The parameter should display SW1-SW10 corresponding to the switch pressed and Idle when the switch is released.

Repair Procedures

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.

Preliminary Procedure: Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
1Steering Wheel Spoke Cover (Qty: 2) Tip: Use a flat-bladed plastic tool to disengage the 2 detent tabs and carefully pull cover from the 2 retainers.
2Steering Wheel Control Switch Screw (Qty: 4) NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice . Tighten: 2 N.m (18 lb in)
3Steering Wheel Control Switch Assembly (Qty: 2) Procedure Radio control switch assembly is shown. Cruise control switch assembly is similar. Disconnect the electrical connector.
