REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Note. For removal and installation procedures not covered in this article, see MANUAL A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS - 900 article.
Removal
Carefully pry out push buttons located directly below the A/C-heater control panel. Carefully press out A/C-heater control panel from behind. Disconnect wiring harness from A/C-heater control panel.
Installation
To install, reverse removal procedure. Calibrate A/C-heater control panel. See CALIBRATION under FAULT DIAGNOSIS.
Remove A/C-heater control panel. Remove stepper motor retaining screws and motor. (Scheme 1) Disconnect wiring harness from motor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Calibrate A/C-heater control panel. See CALIBRATION under FAULT DIAGNOSIS.
- Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove glove box. Remove trim panel from right side of center console.
- Remove knee guard. Remove floor air duct. Remove air duct to right side vent. Remove automatic transmission control module (if equipped) from bracket on firewall. Allow control module to hang by wiring harness. Remove bracket.
- Open wiring harness tie straps and move dashboard wiring harness out of way. Turn down carpet and remove protective cover. Remove fan control module. See «FAN CONTROL MODULE»(ref-13734-S39505882372000122600000). Loosen nut securing anti-frost thermostat. (Scheme 1)
- Remove end cover from evaporator case (it may be necessary to break off clips for removal). Disconnect wiring harness from anti-frost thermostat. Remove anti-frost thermostat.
- Using clip, attach anti-frost thermostat sensor bulb to low-pressure tube. Install end cover on evaporator case and secure with screws.
- Operate blower motor fan at maximum speed. Ensure evaporator does not leak. Calibrate A/C-heater control panel. See «CALIBRATION»(ref-13734-S03311839732000122600000) under FAULT DIAGNOSIS.
Scheme 1
Remove glove box. Remove trim panel from right side of center console. Remove floor air duct. Remove stepper motor retaining screws and motor. (Scheme 1) Disconnect wiring harness from motor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Calibrate A/C-heater control panel. See CALIBRATION under FAULT DIAGNOSIS.
Remove glove box. Remove trim panel from right side of center console. Remove floor air duct. Detach and remove blend air sensor. Disconnect wiring harness and press the sensor leads out of connector. (Scheme 2)
To install, reverse removal procedure. Calibrate A/C-heater control panel. See CALIBRATION under FAULT DIAGNOSIS.
Scheme 2
Remove glove box. Remove trim panel from right side of center console. Remove floor air duct. Remove fan control module protective cover. Remove fan control module retaining screws and module. (Scheme 1) Disconnect wiring harness from unit.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Apply a thin coating of Silicon Paste (45 30 07 895) on fan control module mounting surface. Operate blower motor fan at maximum speed. Ensure evaporator does not leak. Calibrate A/C-heater control panel. See CALIBRATION under FAULT DIAGNOSIS.
Remove A/C-heater control panel. Press buttons beside the in-vehicle temperature sensor, and remove the cover over sensor. Carefully pry out sensor from dashboard, then press sensor toward front of vehicle to remove it. Disconnect wiring harness from sensor.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Calibrate A/C-heater control panel. See CALIBRATION under FAULT DIAGNOSIS.
Slide solar sensor cover rearward. Work the cover on top of the dashboard loose. Disconnect wiring harness from sensor. Press solar sensor against cover, and rotate it counterclockwise to remove.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Calibrate A/C-heater control panel. See CALIBRATION under FAULT DIAGNOSIS.
