If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury. WARNING: If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced. WARNING: Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced. Preliminary Procedure Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING . Remove the sunshade. Refer to SUNSHADE REPLACEMENT . Remove the sunshade supports. Refer to SUNSHADE SUPPORT REPLACEMENT . Remove the roof rail front assist handles. Refer to ROOF RAIL FRONT ASSIST HANDLE REPLACEMENT . 1Headlining Trim Panel Procedure Disconnect the electrical connectors. NOTE: Carefully observe the placements of the retainers and remove from there. See graphic. Use melting glue if the fabric unintentionally is removed from the panel.

Refer to HEADLAMP SWITCH MOLDING REPLACEMENT . Remove the turn signal multifunction switch. Refer to TURN SIGNAL MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH REPLACEMENT . Remove the windshield wiper and washer switch. 2Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Retainer (Qty: 10) Procedure Use a flat-bladed plastic trim tool in order to release the retaining clips securing the upper trim panel to the instrument panel. NOTE: Apply protection tape on the instrument panel to prevent scratches and pressmarks on instrument panel surface. The flat-bladed plastic trim tool and retainers may cause damage.

1Instrument Panel Tie Bar Assembly Fastener (Qty: 10) Refer to FASTENER CAUTION . Tighten 22 Nm (16 lb ft)
2Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module Fastener (Qty: 3) Procedure Release the heater and air conditioning evaporator and blower module from the I/P tie bar and secure the module at the body. Tighten 5 Nm (44 lb in)
3Instrument Panel Tie Bar Assembly Procedure Remove the hood release handle. Note location and routing of the I/P wiring harness prior to removal of the I/P tie bar assembly to ensure proper reinstallation. Disconnect the wiring harness from the I/P tie bar assembly. With the aid of an assistant, remove the I/P tie bar assembly from the vehicle. If replacing the I/P tie bar assembly, transfer all necessary components.
