Engine Controls - Service & Adjustment Specifications: Other Saab 9-5 I рестайлинг

Specifications 3 illustrations ~339 words

ENGINE COMPRESSION

Check engine compression at normal operating temperature with all spark plugs removed. To prevent damage to catalytic converter, make tests quickly and only when necessary.

Note. Compression specifications are not supplied by manufacturer. Difference between cylinders must not exceed 29 psi.

VALVE CLEARANCE (2.0L & 2.3L)

Note. Information for 3.0L is not available from manufacturer.

All models are equipped with hydraulic lifters, normal maintenance is not required. Checking valve clearance requires the use of Saab special service tool No. (83 93 753) and assumes the cylinder head is off the vehicle, and camshafts and tappets are removed. (Scheme 1) To increase valve clearance, valve stem must be shortened and to decrease valve clearance, valve seat must be reground.

IGNITION COIL

Trionic Engine Management System uses an ignition discharge module that houses all ignition coils. Resistance values are not available from manufacturer. For diagnostic testing procedures, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.

IGNITION TIMING

Trionic Engine Management System measures spark plug resistance to control ignition timing, eliminating the need for Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor and Knock Sensor (KS). Ignition timing is controlled by ECM and is not adjustable.

THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSORS

Throttle valve position is entirely controlled by ECM unless a serious throttle control fault occurs. Then limp-home solenoid activates and throttle is controlled by throttle cable. Trionic engine management system uses 2 throttle position sensors and 2 pedal position sensors. None are adjustable. If opening throttle by hand while engine is running, use pedal position sensor arm instead of throttle spindle to open throttle. Otherwise, fuel shutoff occurs and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P1263 sets. If done while cranking, DTC P1251 sets and system goes into limp-home mode. If either DTC sets, go to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article for diagnostic procedures.
