Drying Method

  1. If you observe puddles of liquid on the carpet face, use a wet vacuum to remove the excess moisture.
  2. Blot the face of the carpet with a towel in order to absorb as much moisture as possible.
  3. Point a fan at the affected area and air dry the carpet.

1Headliner Trim Panel Assembly Procedure Release two retainers in the rear part of headliner. Prior to removal, note the routing of the wire harness to aid in reassembly and to ensure proper installation. Disconnect the electrical connectors. If replacing the headliner assembly, transfer all necessary components. Ensure weatherstrips are properly positioned once headliner is in place. Disconnect the rear washer hose. NOTE: When installing a new headliner, tape any unused connector to the headliner with a high adhesive tape.

  1. Lift up on the instrument panel compartment door latch.
  2. Use a suitable tool and depress the retaining tumbler (1) through the access hole indicated.
  3. With the retaining tumbler (1) depressed, remove the instrument panel compartment door lock cylinder (2) from the instrument panel compartment door latch assembly.

  1. Position the instrument panel compartment door lock cylinder (2) to the opening in the compartment door latch, while depressing the retainer tumbler (1).
  2. Insert the instrument panel door lock cylinder (2) fully into the latch assembly.
  3. An audible click should be heard when the door lock cylinder (2) is fully seated into the latch assembly.
  4. Ensure proper operation of the instrument panel compartment door lock.

  12. Note location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal in order to ensure proper installation.
  13. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  14. Remove the 2 nuts (1) securing the instrument panel inflatable restraint to the instrument panel assembly.
  15. Remove the 7 bolts/screws (1) securing the instrument panel assembly to the vehicle.
  16. Remove the 4 nuts (1) securing the instrument panel assembly to the vehicle.
  17. With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel assembly (1) from the vehicle.
  18. Set the instrument panel assembly down and adequately support it in order to prevent any damage.

  1. With the aid of an assistant, align the instrument panel assembly (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Loosely install the 4 nuts (1).
  3. Loosely install the 7 bolts/screws (1).
  4. Refer to «CAUTION: RETAINER»(ref-652229-S20487768742014082300000) . Tighten the 7 bolt/screws securing the instrument panel to the vehicle 2.5 Nm (22 lb in) .
  5. Tighten the 4 nuts securing the instrument panel to the vehicle to 9 Nm (80 lb in) .
  6. Install the 2 nuts (1) securing the instrument panel inflatable restraint to the instrument panel assembly, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in) .
  7. Ensure the wiring harness is routed properly as was noted in the removal procedures.
  8. Connect the electrical connections.
  9. Install the right and left windshield garnish moldings. Refer to «WINDSHIELD GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT»(ref-652235-S03156074192014082300000) .
  10. Install the windshield defroster nozzle grille. Refer to «WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER NOZZLE GRILLE REPLACEMENT»(ref-652243-S13997495762014082300000) .

  5. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the thermal expansion valve. Refer to «AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER AND AIR CONDITIONING EVAPORATOR TUBE REPLACEMENT»(ref-652243-S18177238492014082300000)
  6. Within the engine compartment area remove the fastener (1) securing the HVAC module assembly to the vehicle body.

  9. Remove the body control module and bracket. Refer to «BODY CONTROL MODULE BRACKET REPLACEMENT»(ref-652232-S02983868842014082300000)
  10. Remove the four bolts (1) securing the brake pedal assembly to the instrument panel tie bar.
  11. Remove the eleven bolts (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar to the vehicle.
  12. Note location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness around the instrument panel tie bar prior to removal to ensure proper reinstallation.
  13. Disconnect any retainers securing the instrument panel wiring harness to the tie bar assembly and position the wiring harness out of the way.
  14. With the aid of an assistant remove the instrument panel tie bar and HVAC module assembly as a unit (1) from the vehicle.
  15. Remove the two bolts (1) securing the HVAC module (3) to the instrument panel tie bar assembly (4).
  16. Remove the four nuts (2) securing the HVAC module (3) to the instrument panel tie bar assembly (4).
  17. Separate the HVAC module (3) from the instrument panel tie bar assembly (4).

  1. When replacing the instrument panel tie bar assembly, transfer all necessary components.
  2. Align the HVAC module (3) to the instrument panel tie bar assembly (4).
  3. Loosely install the four nuts (2) securing the HVAC module (3) to the instrument panel tie bar assembly (4).
  4. Loosely install the two bolts (1) securing the HVAC module (3) to the instrument panel tie bar assembly (4).
  5. Refer to «CAUTION: RETAINER»(ref-652229-S20487768742014082300000) Tighten the four nuts and the two bolts securing the HVAC module (3) to the instrument panel tie bar assembly (4) to 6 Nm (53 lb in) .
  6. With the aid of an assistant position the instrument panel tie bar and HVAC module assembly as a unit (1) into the vehicle.
  7. Reposition the wiring harness as was noted in the removal procedure and re-secure any retainers removed in order to secure the instrument panel wiring harness to the tie bar assembly.
  8. Loosely install the eleven bolts (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar to the vehicle.
  9. Once all eleven bolts (1) are loosely installed, tighten the bolts to 22 Nm (16 lb ft) .
  10. Loosely install the four bolts (1) securing the brake pedal assembly to the instrument panel tie bar.
  11. Once all four bolts (1) are loosely installed, tighten the bolts to 21 Nm (15 lb ft)
  12. Install the body control module and bracket. Refer to «BODY CONTROL MODULE BRACKET REPLACEMENT»(ref-652232-S02983868842014082300000)
  13. Install the communication interface module and bracket assembly. Refer to «COMMUNICATION INTERFACE MODULE BRACKET REPLACEMENT»(ref-652254-S08846703552014082300000)
  14. Install the instrument panel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY REMOVAL»(ref-652235-S27660558562014082300000)
  15. Within the engine compartment area install the fastener (1) securing the HVAC module assembly to the vehicle body, tighten the fastener (1) to 1.4 Nm (12 lb in) .
