INTERNATIONAL CONTROL SYMBOL IDENTIFICATION

Scheme 4

Scheme 4: ENGINE COMPARTMENT

The graphic symbols illustrated are used to identify engine compartment lubricant and fluid inspection and fill locations. The symbols correspond to the caps located within the engine compartment.

Scheme 5

Scheme 5: DESCRIPTION
1 - VECI LABEL LOCATION
2 - RADIATOR SUPPORT

Note. The Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label(s) must be in place for the life of the vehicle. When replacing the component in which the VECI label is adhered, a new VECI label must also be adhered to the new component.

All models have a VECI Label (1). Chrysler LLC permanently attaches the label in the engine compartment. The label cannot be removed without defacing label information and destroying label.

There are unique labels for vehicles built for sale in the state of California and the country of Canada. Canadian labels are written in both the English and French languages.

The VECI label contains the following

  1. Engine family and displacement.
  2. Evaporative family.
  3. Certification application.
  4. Engine timing specifications (if adjustable).
  5. Idle speeds (if adjustable).
  6. Spark plug and gap.

Scheme 6

Scheme 6: DESCRIPTION

A vehicle certification label is attached to every Chrysler LLC vehicle. The label certifies that the vehicle conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Standards. The label also lists

  1. Month and year of vehicle manufacture.
  2. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). The gross front and rear axle weight ratings (GAWR's) are based on a minimum rim size and maximum cold tire inflation pressure.
  3. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
  4. Type of vehicle.
  5. Type of rear wheels.
  6. Bar code.
  7. Month, Day and Hour (MDH) of final assembly.
  8. Paint and Trim codes.
  9. Country of origin.

The label is located on the driver-side door shut-face.

Scheme 7

Scheme 7: VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plate (1) is located on the lower windshield fence near the left a-pillar. The VIN contains 17 characters that provide data concerning the vehicle. Refer to the VIN decoding chart to determine the identification of a vehicle.

The VIN is also imprinted on the

  1. Equipment Identification Plate.
  2. Vehicle Safety Certification Label.
  3. Frame rail.

To protect the consumer from theft and possible fraud the manufacturer is required to include a Check Digit at the ninth position of the VIN. The check digit is used by the manufacturer and government agencies to verify the authenticity of the vehicle and official documentation. The formula to use the check digit is not released to the general public.
