INSTALLATION
- Clean and inspect the battery (2). For the proper procedures, refer to «CLEANING»(ref-476509-S16868350112012060400000) and «INSPECTION»(ref-476509-S19320588442012060400000) . CAUTION: Be certain that the battery cable terminal clamps are connected to the correct battery terminal posts. Reversed battery polarity may damage electrical components of the vehicle.
- Position the battery into the battery tray. Ensure that the battery positive and negative terminal posts are correctly positioned. The battery cable terminal clamps must reach the correct battery terminal post without stretching the cables.
- Position the battery hold down (3) and install the retaining bolt (2).
- Clean the battery cable terminal clamps and the battery terminal posts. For the proper procedures, refer to «CLEANING»(ref-476509-S16868350112012060400000) .
- Connect the battery positive cable to the battery. Tighten to 4 N.m (35 in. lbs.).
- Connect the battery negative cable to the battery. Tighten to 4 N.m (35 in. lbs.).
- Apply a thin coating of petroleum jelly or chassis grease to the exposed surfaces of the battery cable terminal clamps and the battery terminal posts.
- Obtain an appropriate scan tool and check the PCM for any stored battery disconnect trouble codes. Clear codes if required.
- Clean and inspect the battery hold down bracket (5) and bolt (6). Refer to «CLEANING»(ref-476509-S16868350112012060400000) .
- Position the battery hold down bracket in the battery tray. CAUTION: Be certain that the hold down bracket is properly positioned in the battery tray before tightening the hold down bolt or damage to the battery and tray may result.
- Install and tighten the battery hold down retaining bolt.

- Remove the battery (3) from the battery tray. Refer to «BATTERY, REMOVAL»(ref-476509-S20525502642012060400000) .
- Remove the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) (5). Refer to «MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), REMOVAL»(ref-476543-S26517536562012060400000) .
- Disconnect the wire harness retainers from the battery tray assembly.
- Disconnect the purge solenoid (6) from its mounting bracket.
- Remove the anti-lock brake controller (if equipped) retaining bolts and support the brake controller with mechanics wire. It is not necessary to completely remove the anti-lock brake control unit.
- Remove the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to «SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL»(ref-476497-S26563479062012060400000) .
- Mark the location of the cruise servo (3) (if equipped) and remove the retaining screws. Position the servo out of the way.
- Disconnect the left front fender ground wire.
- Remove the remaining battery tray retaining bolts (2).
- Remove the battery tray from the vehicle.
- Position the battery tray assembly (1) and install the retaining bolts (2).
- Connect the left front fender ground wire.
- Install the cruise servo (3) (if equipped) and retaining screws.
- Install the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to «SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, INSTALLATION»(ref-476497-S42875049802012060400000) .
- Install the anti-lock brake controller (if equipped).
- Install the purge solenoid (6) on its mounting bracket.
- Connect the wire harness retainers on the battery tray assembly.
- Install the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) (5). Refer to «MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), INSTALLATION»(ref-476543-S26414237602012060400000) .
- Install the battery (3). Refer to «BATTERY, INSTALLATION»(ref-476509-S07320704822012060400000) .
