Installing holder
1. Position bellows -5-, holder -4- and threaded plate -3-. (Scheme 76)

2. Hand tighten fastening screws -2-. (Scheme 77)
3. Swivel the spare wheel mount with spare wheel mounted to the vehicle and engage in lock. If necessary, adjust the setting of the holder.
4. Move holder -4- until it engages correctly in the lock. (Scheme 77)
5. Tighten fastening screws -2- to the correct tightening torque. --> Tightening torque: 24 ftlb. +/-2 ftlb. (Scheme 76)
6. Clip in cover -1-. (Scheme 77)

1. Remove rear apron. Refer to 63 55 19 Removing and installing rear spoiler - as of MY 2003 (All Models) .
2. Unscrew fastening screw -2-. (Scheme 78)
3. Pull off cover -3- on lower bearing, guiding the wire harness -4- inward. (Scheme 78)

4. Push down safety clip -5- from the pneumatic spring -6- ( -arrow A- ). (Scheme 79)
5. Pull off the pneumatic spring -6- on the ball head. (Scheme 79)

6. Swivel bearing inward.
7. Push down safety clip -5- from the pneumatic spring -6- ( -arrow A- ). see scheme 105
8. Pull off the pneumatic spring -6- on the ball head and remove it. see scheme 105

1. Push on safety clips -5- on both sides of the pneumatic spring -6-. (Scheme 81)

2. Press pneumatic spring -6- onto ball head until safety clips are felt to engage. see scheme 108
3. Swivel bearing outward.

4. Carefully press together pneumatic spring -6- using a suitable screw clamp -7-. (Scheme 82)

5. Press pneumatic spring -6- onto ball head until safety clips are felt to engage. (Scheme 83)
6. Push cover -3- onto lower bearing, guiding the wire harness -4- outward. (Scheme 84)
7. Screw in fastening screw -2- and tighten to the specified tightening torque. --> Tightening torque: 4 ftlb. (Scheme 84)
8. Install rear apron. Refer to 63 55 19 Removing and installing rear spoiler - as of MY 2003 (All Models) .
