OXYGEN SENSOR WARNING LIGHT RESET - PROCEDURE 1
Oxygen sensor (O2S) light will come on at 30,000 mile intervals as a reminder to replace sensor. After replacing sensor, reset warning light as follows
- On 911 models, disconnect battery ground cable and remove speedometer. Counter will be visible through speedometer mounting hole. Using a thick piece of wire or a thin rod, press White reset button all the way in against stop. Ensure warning light is out.
- On 924 models, after replacing oxygen sensor and with vehicle still raised, locate mileage counter on left engine mount. Using a thick wire or thin metal rod, push in reset button all the way to stop. Ensure warning light is out.
- On 928 and 928S with CIS system, counter is located to right of passenger seat floor (near door sill). Remove counter cover retaining screw and cover. Press reset button all the way in against stop. Ensure warning light is out.
SERVICE REMINDER INDICATOR (SRI) RESET - PROCEDURE 1
Note. A Porsche scan tool is required to perform this procedure. See appropriate tool procedure.
SERVICE REMINDER INDICATOR (SRI) RESET - PROCEDURE 2
If the engine oil is replaced during maintenance work, the service interval must be reset.
- Standard Service Interval Reset
- In the PST2 (Porsche System Tester 2), select Instrument cluster, then press >>.
- Select the Coding menu, then press >>.
- Select Reset Service Interval Display menu, then press >>. NOTE: Depending on the country, additional items are checked in the case of the V6 model. These items must be selected on a country-specific basis.
- Select Reset menu and confirm with F8.
- Quit menu, shut down PST and disconnect from vehicle.
- Maintenance Calculator Reset: NOTE: All Cayenne V6 engines are factory filled with an engine oil of VW specification "50300". New vehicles produced have their maintenance calculator set for an oil change service interval of 10,000 miles (15,000 km) or 1 year. The maintenance calculator in the Cayenne (V6) determines the time of the engine oil change depending on the vehicle load and driving style, and requests for "Service" via the multi-function display.
After changing the oil, the oil change service interval must be reset in the instrument cluster using the PST2 (Porsche System Tester 2). The country version for which the new vehicle was produced is stored in the control modules. The PST2 automatically detects this country version before resetting the maintenance calculator and depending on this, offers the following options for oil change service intervals
- The country version of the vehicle corresponds to one of the countries listed in Table 1. Depending on the engine oil used for the oil change, the following selection options for oil change service intervals are available in the selection menu of the PST2 for these vehicles, when resetting the maintenance calculator with the PST2: 1.1 If an engine oil in accordance with the VW specification "50300" was used: The oil change service interval is set in the maintenance calculator for an oil change service interval of up 30,000 km or 2 years, after selecting and confirming this oil quality in the PST2 menu => "Engine oil according to VW spec. "50300". 1.2 If an engine oil not in accordance with the VW specification "50300" was used: The oil change service interval is set in the maintenance calculator for a fixed oil change service interval of 10,000 miles (15,000 km) or 1 year, after selecting and confirming this oil quality in the PST2 menu => "Engine oil with general Porsche approval".
- The country version of the vehicle "does not" correspond to one of the countries listed in Table 1. For vehicles having these country versions, all engine oils approved by Porsche may be used which are listed in this bulletin below and Cayenne Technical Information Bulletin, GROUP 1, NO. 4/04 . Even when an engine oil meeting the VW specification "50300" is used, the oil change service interval of 10,000 miles (15,000 km) or 1 year is to be observed. 2.1 If an engine oil approved by Porsche was used: The oil change service interval is set for a fixed oil change service interval of 10,000 miles (15,000 km) or 1 year when resetting the maintenance calculator with the PST2.

SERVICE REMINDER INDICATOR (SRI) RESET - PROCEDURE 3
Note. If the engine oil is replaced during maintenance work, the service interval must be reset.
- Start the PIWIS Tester II 9818 and follow the instructions on the Tester
- Select vehicle type and start the PIDT.
- Select the Instrument Cluster menu and press F12.
- Select the Maintenance/Repairs menu.
- Select the Reset Service Interval menu and press F12.
- Select the maintenance work that was carried out (tick the relevant boxes) and press F12
- Select the engine variant and start the Reset function by pressing F8. Press F12 to continue.
- Quit the menu, shut down the PIWIS Tester and disconnect it from the vehicle.
TIMING BELT TENSION INDICATOR LAMP RESET - PROCEDURE 1
The engine is equipped with a timing belt tension switch. If the timing belt tension indicator lamp comes on, use (Scheme 1) as a guide to diagnosis. Lamp will turn off automatically when the correct timing belt tension is restored or electrical problem is corrected.

TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 1
Tire Pressure Monitoring begins to "learn" the wheels after a wheel change, wheel transmitter replacement, a tire pressure adjustment (when a warning message has been displayed), once an update of the tire settings has been performed. During this process, Tire Pressure Monitoring recognizes the wheels and their locations. The message "No monitoring, system is learning" appears on the multi-purpose display. The wheel learning process takes place exclusively when the vehicle is being driven above 16 mph (25 km/h). Tire Pressure Monitoring requires a certain amount of time to learn the wheels.
Note. The tire type and size must be updated even if the settings for the new set of wheels are the same as for the old wheels. If the tire settings are not updated, the message "TIRE CHANGE? UPDATE SETTINGS!" is displayed on the multi-purpose display.
Starting TPMS Learn
- Select menu "TIRE PRESSURE", then "ADJUST". Set tire type and tire size (both items must be set). See Operating Multi-Purpose Display .
- The learning process is now started, and will be completed when vehicle is driven. The message "NO MONITORING - SYSTEM LEARNING" is displayed. The current tire pressure will be displayed once the learning phase is complete.
Operating Multi-Purpose Display
With multi-function steering wheel
- Selecting menu, function, setting option: Rotary knob (top right button).
- Confirming selection: Press rotary knob.
- Moving back one or several selection levels: Button below rotary knob (middle right button).
Without multi-function steering wheel: (Use the lower lever on the right of the steering column.)
- Selecting menu, function, setting option: Push the lever downwards or upwards.
- Confirming selection: Push the lever forward.
- Moving back one or several selection levels: Pull the lever back (toward rear of vehicle).
TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 2
Note. If tires have been rotated, tire pressure changed, or a tire pressure sensor or wheel has been replaced, the TPM system must be reset. See Tire Pressure Monitor System Reset . When vehicle is stationary after a tire pressure warning, the display changes to "SELECTION AFTER WARNING" screen. See "Selection After Warning" Reset .
If tire pressures have been adjusted, without being prompted by a TPMS warning indicator, no reset procedure is required. If tire pressures have been adjusted after a TPMS warning indicator display, see "Selection After Warning" Reset .
Tire Pressure Monitor System Reset
- Select menu "TYRE PRESSURE", "SETTINGS, then "TYRES". Set tire type and tire size (both items must be set). NOTE: The tire type and size must be selected even if the settings for the new set of wheels are the same as for the old wheels.
- The learning process is now started, and will be completed when vehicle is driven. The message "NO MONITORING - SYSTEM LEARNING" is displayed. The current tire pressure will not be displayed until the learning phase is complete.
"Selection After Warning" Reset
When the vehicle is stationary after a tire pressure warning, the screen changes to "SELECTION AFTER WARNING". (Scheme 2) Choose the appropriate procedure

- If a wheel was changed, see «Wheel Change»(ref-161633-S32550490502012082300000) .
- If a flat is repaired using tire sealant, see «Sealing Set»(ref-161633-S25396831092012082300000) .
Note. If a selection is made in the "SELECTION AFTER WARNING" display without performing the appropriate actions, the message "CAUTION - FLAT TYRE - CHECK TYRES" will be displayed.

Note. If tires have been rotated, or a tire pressure sensor or wheel has been replaced, the TPM system must be reset. See procedure below.
Note. If tire pressures have been adjusted, no reset procedure is required.
Tire Pressure Monitoring begins to "learn" new tire pressure sensors after a wheel change or sensor replacement after updating the tire specification settings. During the Learn process, the TPMS recognizes the wheels and their locations. A "No Monitoring" message appears on the multi-purpose display. The wheel learning process takes place exclusively when the vehicle is being driven above 16 mph (25 km/h). Tire Pressure Monitoring requires a certain amount of time to learn the wheels.
Updating Tire Specification Settings
Note. The on-board computer is operated with the lower left lever on the steering column.
- Push operating lever forward in order to switch on the selection field.
- Select "TPC" with the operating lever.
- Push operating lever forward. The display changes to the Tire pressure menu.
- Select "Set" with the operating lever.
- Push the operating lever forward. Select desired tire type: summer or winter.
- Push operating lever forward. A display for confirming the selected type of tire appears.
- Select "Continue" and push the operating lever forward.
- Select the appropriate tire size (18 or 19 inch) and push operating lever forwards. A display for confirming the selected tire size appears.
- If "Process complete" is displayed, learning mode will be initiated.
- Drive vehicle above 16 mph (25 km/h) until correct tire pressures are displayed.
Note. The message "Process aborted" appears if the setting process is interrupted. All entries made up to this point are lost, and the original settings remain in effect. Only if the message "Process complete" appears after the settings have been made will the tire pressure monitoring re-learn the wheels.
