Install front lock lower part
Installation Location
1. Install lower part of lock.

1.1. Insert lower part of lock -14- into lock support -1- ( -arrow A- ). (Scheme 85)
Note. The holes in the lower part of the lock -14- and the thread in the lock support -1- must be aligned in center position.
1.2. Screw in fastening screws -12- and -13- and tighten to the specified tightening torque. --> Tightening torque: 9 (6.5 ftlb.) Nm +/-1 (0.5 ftlb.) Nm. (Scheme 85), (Scheme 86).

2. Install contact switch for engine compartment light. Refer to 96 06 19 Removing and installing contact switch for engine compartment light - as of MY 2003 (All Models) .
3. Install emergency release cable and front section of cable for front lid lock > 551419 Removing and installing cable for front lid lock - "Installing"
4. Install lock support.

4.1. Insert lock support -1- ( -arrow B- ) and push emergency release cable -5- and front section of cable for front lid lock -9- into the lock mount at the same time ( -arrows C- ). (Scheme 87)

4.2. Swivel lock support -1- upwards ( -arrow D- ) and move it up ( -arrow E- ). (Scheme 88), (Scheme 89).

5. Fasten lock support.

5.1. Push wire harness -3- over the lock support -1- ( -arrow F- ), then hold lock support -1- and insert it down into the air guide -11- ( (Scheme 92) -arrows G- ). (Scheme 91), (Scheme 92).

5.2. Screw in fastening screws -10- and tighten hand-tight. (Scheme 93)

6. Connect cable for front lid lock.

6.1. Engage front section of cable for front lid lock -9- ( -arrow H- ) and close lid -8- at connection piece -6- ( -arrow I- ) until the locking lugs (Scheme 96) -7- engage audibly. (Scheme 95)

6.2. Clip the connection piece -6- to the body ( -arrow K- ). (Scheme 97)

7. Clip in emergency release cable.

8. Secure wiring harness.

8.1. Press temperature sensor -4- into the lock support -1- ( -arrow M- ). (Scheme 101)

8.2. Clip in wire -3- ( -arrows N- ). (Scheme 102)
8.3. Connect plug connection -2- until the locking lug ( -arrow- ) engages audibly ( -arrows O- ) and clip it onto the lock support -1- ( -arrow P- ). see scheme 94
9. Adjust lock support.
9.1. Close front lid and check that the upper part of the lock engages correctly into the lower part of the lock. Adjust the position of the lock support -1- if necessary by moving it as required. see scheme 95
9.2. Tighten fastening screws -10- to the specified tightening torque --> Tightening torque: 9 (6.5 ftlb.) Nm +/-1 (0.5 ftlb.) Nm. see scheme 95
10. Install front apron. Refer to 63 15 19 Removing and installing front spoiler - as of MY 2003 (All Models) .
11. Install front and side covers in engine compartment. Refer to 70 02 19 Removing and installing front cover (engine compartment) - as of MY 2003 (All Models) .
