FUSES & RELAY BLOCK LOCATIONS

BATTERY DISCONNECT PRECAUTIONS

After disconnecting battery or replacing ECM, drive vehicle to enable ECM to relearn driveability. Inform your customer that they may experience driveability different from what they are accustomed to until ECM completes relearn function.

Ready Status

After battery is disconnected and reconnected, the "Ready Status" must be obtained following a test drive or using a Porsche System Tester (or equivalent aftermarket scan tool).

Idle Relearn

After disconnecting power supply, the idle speed might change or fluctuate briefly until throttle adjusting unit readapts. Mixture adaption is also lost.

To readapt DME control unit (PCM), perform the following procedure

  1. Turn ignition on, with engine off for 30 seconds. Do NOT touch accelerator pedal. This completes adaption of throttle adjusting unit.
  2. Engine must run for several minutes before PCM can relearn idle speed and mixture adaption values.

Tire Pressure Monitoring

Tire pressure monitoring values will be lost after the battery is disconnected. After reconnecting battery, drive vehicle for a short distance. Actual tire pressures will start to display again.

Steering Angle Sensor

Steering angle sensor must be re-initialized after battery is disconnected and connected.

  1. Turn steering wheel to straight ahead position.
  2. Turn ignition off then on again twice (do not start engine yet).
  3. Start engine.
  4. From the straight-ahead position, turn steering wheel about 20 degrees to the left and 20 degrees to the right (past the straight-ahead position).
  5. Drive vehicle straight ahead for at least one second at a speed above 2.5 MPH.
  6. Stored fault code in Porsche Stability Management (PSM) control unit should now be cleared automatically. The PSM indicator light in instrument cluster should now go out.

Sliding Roof Electric Motor

Sliding roof limit positions are lost when battery is disconnected and connected. To restore settings, turn ignition on (engine off) and press rocker switch upwards. Roof opens and closes completely. Limit positions are now stored in control unit.

Power Windows

Limit positions of power windows are deleted from control unit when battery is disconnected and connected.

To restore settings, manually close each power window as far as it will go. Open it completely, and then press rocker switch for closing window again. Power window limit positions are now stored in control unit.

Supply Voltage Fault Entry

A "supply voltage" entry may be stored in various electronic control units if battery is completely discharged. This will have to erased from fault memory using a scan tool.

CAUTIONPrior to removing any fuses or relays, battery negative cable must be disconnected. See BATTERY DISCONNECT PRECAUTIONS .

  1. Move driver's front seat rearward, as far as possible. Move seat backrest forward, as far as possible. Remove front seat trim. Carefully pull carpeting away from seat frame. Remove bolts securing front seat to floor.
  2. Tip seat rearward, as far as possible. With seat in tipped position, using power seat switch, move seat forward again. Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, open 4 tension hooks on battery case cover. (Scheme 12)
  3. Remove battery case cover, with ventilation channel. Disconnect battery negative cable. See «BATTERY DISCONNECT PRECAUTIONS»(/porsche/cayenne-s/i-2007-2010/remont/fuses-circuit-breakers/#fuses-circuit-breakers__battery-disconnect-precautions). Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry out current distributor cover. (Scheme 13)
  4. Unscrew 2 nuts securing fusible link. (Scheme 14) Remove blown fusible link.
  5. Install NEW fusible link. Tighten nuts to 35 INCH lbs. (4 N.m). Slide current distributor cover on, and press until clips lock in place. Connect battery negative cable. Carefully install battery cover. Ventilation channel must be mounted properly.
  6. Attach 4 battery case cover tension hooks. Install driver's seat to original position. Install seat frame bolts. Tighten to 33 ft. lbs. (45 N.m). Clip front seat trim in place.
