Checking lid functions
1. Close the rear lid and lock it.
2. Check that the rear lid is held down by the safety hook (locking hook) after the upper part of lid lock has been opened.
3. Check whether the return spring on the lock lower part pulls back the safety hook as far as the stop.
Install trim panel for rear lid. Refer to 70 87 19 Removing and installing trim panel for rear lid - as of MY 2006 (Cayman S, Cayman S RHD) .
Note. Determine the installation position of upper part of lid lock to cover using marking and note down.
1. Open the rear lid.
Note. Fastening nuts must not be used again following removal.
2. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and remove rear lock upper part -2-. see scheme 141
1. Position rear lid lock upper part -2- and tighten fastening screws -1- slightly. see scheme 142
2. Adjust rear lid lock upper part -2- in relation to the lid according to the noted position; if necessary, center left and right gaps. see scheme 142
3. Tighten fastening screws -1-. --> tightening torque: 9.7 (7.0 ftlb.) Nm. see scheme 142
4. Check lid function.

Note. Set gap dimensions on lid and accessories in accordance with the gap specifications. Given a clearance in the opening that is too great or too small, the movable body or the accessories must be centered accordingly. Ensure that the gaps do not taper or do not narrow at local points. The given values are guidelines which should be observed as far as possible. The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work. Use star gauges to measure the gap dimensions, Star gauges for body gap dimensions NR.127-1
