Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the headliner. Refer to «Headliner Replacement»(ref-200051-S29348321192005102000000) in Interior Trim.
  2. Disconnect 2 antenna connectors (1).
  3. Disconnect 1 antenna connector (1).
  4. Remove the antenna harness from the antenna harness retaining clips (1).
  5. Remove the antenna mounting bracket bolt and the mounting bracket.
  6. Depress the antenna locking tabs (1) and remove the antenna.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the antenna.
  2. Install the antenna mounting bracket and mounting bracket bolt. Tighten: Tighten the antenna mounting bracket bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
  3. Install the antenna harness in the antenna harness retaining clips (1).
  4. Connect 1 antenna connector (1).
  5. Connect 2 antenna connectors (1).
  6. Install the headliner. Refer to «Headliner Replacement»(ref-200051-S29348321192005102000000) in Interior Trim.

Scheme 6: OnStar® Button Assembly Replacement

The OnStar® button assembly located on the rearview mirror can not be serviced separately from the rearview mirror. Should the button assembly need to be replaced, the entire rearview mirror assembly will need to be replaced. Refer to Rearview Mirror Replacement in Stationary Windows.

  1. Remove the communication interface module. Refer to «Communication Interface Module Replacement»(ref-200046-S39960383502005102000000) .
  2. Disconnect the vehicle interface unit module electrical connector (1).
  3. Remove the vehicle interface unit module retaining nut (2), then the module.
  1. Position the vehicle interface unit module.
  2. Install interface unit module retaining nut (2). Tighten: Tighten the power control module bolts to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
  3. Connect the vehicle interface unit module electrical connector (1).
  4. Install the communication interface module. Refer to «Communication Interface Module Replacement»(ref-200046-S39960383502005102000000) .
  1. Remove the communication interface module. Refer to «Communication Interface Module Replacement»(ref-200046-S39960383502005102000000) .
  2. Remove the communication vehicle interface unit. Refer to «OnStar® Vehicle Interface Unit (VIU) Replacement»(ref-200046-S03449351002005102000000) .
  3. Unclip the antenna and module harness (1), from the module bracket.
  4. Disconnect the inverter electrical connector (2).
  5. Remove 3 module bracket mounting bolts.
  6. Remove the module bracket.
  1. Position the module bracket in the vehicle.
  2. Install 3 module bracket mounting bolts. Tighten: Tighten the module bracket bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  3. Connect the inverter electrical connector (2).
  4. Clip the antenna and module harness (1), to the module bracket.
  5. Install the communication vehicle interface unit. Refer to «OnStar® Vehicle Interface Unit (VIU) Replacement»(ref-200046-S03449351002005102000000) .
  6. Install the communication interface module. Refer to «Communication Interface Module Replacement»(ref-200046-S39960383502005102000000) .
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Position the seat to the most rearward position.
  3. Disconnect two vehicle communication interface module electrical connectors (1).
  4. Disconnect the cellular antenna and the navigation radio antenna connectors (1).
  5. Position the seat to the most forward position.
  6. Remove 3 vehicle communication interface module retaining nuts.
  7. Remove the vehicle communication interface module from the vehicle.
  1. Position the VCIM in the vehicle.
  2. Install the nuts (1). Tighten: Tighten the nuts (1) to 4 N.m (36 lb in).
  3. Position the seat to the most rearward position.
  4. Connect the cellular antenna and the navigation radio antenna connectors (1).
  5. Connect two vehicle communication interface module electrical connectors (1).
  6. Connect the battery ground cable.
  7. Reconfigure the OnStar® system. Refer to «Communication Interface Module (OnStar®) Programming and Setup»(ref-200053-S21828019302005102000000) in Programming and Setup
