Throttle Body Assembly
The throttle body contains a throttle valve that controls the amount of air entering the engine. The Throttle Position (TP) sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve are both attached to the throttle body. The throttle body has an engine coolant passage that provides warming of the throttle body housing and prevents icing. Throttle body contains vacuum ports that are located above and below the throttle valve. (Scheme 2) These vacuum ports provide the vacuum signals used by various components.

Fuel Sender Assembly
The fuel sender assembly is located in the fuel tank. The fuel sender assembly contains the electric fuel pump, the fuel level sensor, the fuel pressure regulator, and the fuel filter. Most of the fuel sender assembly components can be serviced separately.
The fuel level sensor is part of the fuel sender assembly. The fuel level sensor consists of a float, a float arm, and a variable resistor. The fuel level is measured by the position of the float in the fuel tank, and is indicated by a gauge in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) assembly. When the fuel level changes, the float position changes. The change in the float position increases or decreases the resistance reading of the variable resistor. The change in the resistance causes the position of the fuel gauge pointer to change.
CMP ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
The CMP actuator assembly has an outer housing that is driven by the engine timing chain. Inside the assembly is a wheel with fixed vanes that is attached to the intake camshaft. The CMP actuator assembly also contains a lock pin that prevents movement between the outer housing and the wheel vane assembly. (Scheme 3) The lock pin is released by oil pressure before any movement in the CMP actuator assembly takes place.
