10 Minute Learn Procedure

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
  5. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.
  6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or password.
  7. Using a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located on the right front of engine, above starter.

  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the front air deflector, if applicable.
  4. Remove the starter.
  5. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor harness connector.
  6. Remove the CKP sensor bolt and CKP sensor. (Scheme 33)

  1. Check the CKP sensor "O" ring and lubricate with a mineral based grease.
  2. Carefully insert the CKP sensor into the block. (Scheme 33)
  3. Install the CKP sensor bolt. Tighten the CKP sensor bolt to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153402-S15109679952003040400000).
  4. Reconnect the CKP sensor harness connector.
  5. Reinstall the starter.
  6. Reinstall the front air deflector, if applicable.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153402-S15109679952003040400000).
  9. Perform the CKP system Variation Learn Procedure. See «CKP SYSTEM VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-153402-S37836965312003090300000).
