CASTER ADJUSTMENT
Note. Jounce vehicle several times to settle suspension. Release on down stroke. Check for proper tire pressure, worn steering or suspension components.
- Caster angle may be changed with relocation of 2 washers located between legs of upper control arm. An adjustment kit containing 2 washers is available. One washer is .12" (3 mm) thick and the other is .36" (9 mm) thick.
- When adjusting caster, always use two washers that total .472" (12 mm) thickness, with one washer at each end of locating tube. With thin washer in front, change is plus 1°. With washers reversed, change is minus 1°. Left-to-right side caster angles should be within 2° of each other.
Front

Camber can be increased 1° by removing upper ball joint. Rotate it 1/2 turn. Install with flat of upper flange on inboard side of control arm. Lubricate upper control arm ball joint assembly and pivot bolt during adjustment.
Rear
Rear camber may be adjusted by loosening the rear strut-to-knuckle bolts. Move top of tire inboard or outboard until correct camber is obtained. Tighten bolts to specification.
Front Wheels
- Toe-in is changed by adjusting length of tie rods. When tie rods are mounted ahead of steering knuckle, decrease length in order to increase toe-in. Loosen clamp bolts at each end of steering tie rod adjustment sleeve.
- On models with rack and pinion steering loosen jam nut. With steering wheel set straight ahead, turn tie rod adjusting sleeves to obtain the proper toe-in adjustment.
- With adjustment completed, ensure number of threads showing on each end of sleeve are equal and tie rod end housing is at right angles to steering arm. Also ensure steering wheel spokes are level.
- Position tie rod clamps and sleeves correctly. (Scheme 1) Tighten to specifications. On rack and pinion models, tighten jam nut after toe is set to specifications.
Adjust rear wheel toe after rear camber has been set. To adjust, loosen boot and lock nut near outer end of tie rod. Rotate tie rod to obtain specified toe. Tighten lock nut.
