Note. The reset TCC break-in procedure may be referred to as the Electronically Modulated Converter Clutch (EMCC) reset procedure. For EMCC reset procedures, refer to the AUTO TRANS OVERHAUL - A-604/41TE & 41AE article.

47 - Solenoid Switch Valve Latched in the L-R Position

Continuously when doing partial or full EMCC.

Transaxle must be in partial or full EMCC. This code sets within three seconds if the L-R pressure is high for the second time.

The Solenoid Switch Valve (SSV) controls the direction of the transaxle fluid when the L-R/TCC solenoid is energized. The SSV will be in the downshifted position in 1st gear, thus directing the fluid to the L-R element. In 2nd, 3rd and 4th, it will be in the upshifted position and will direct fluid into the TCC switch valve, which controls the torque converter.

When doing partial EMCC (PEMCC) or full EMCC (FEMCC), the L-R pressure switch should indicate no pressure if the SSV is in the EMCC position. If the L-R pressure switch indicates pressure for some time while in PEMCC or FEMCC, operation is aborted and inhibited to avoid inadvertent application of the L-R clutch. Partial EMCC is attempted when there is no L-R pressure. A second detection of L-R pressure results in setting the trouble code and causes the transaxle to go into limp-in mode.
