Functional Description: Steering Opel Vivaro A

Steering Gear 1 illustration ~102 words

The Vivaro is equipped with a power-assisted rack and pinion type steering gear that is mounted on the front sub-frame.

The steering column is connected to the steering gear through a collapsible shaft and universal joints. The collapsible shaft has a splined coupling and will collapse telescopically when subject to sufficient impact.

The steering gear is assisted by hydraulic pressure from an engine driven pump via a hydraulic pressure hose assembly, that forms part of the hydraulic circuit. The hydraulic pipe layout for the steering varies according to the engine type, and between left drive or right drive vehicles.
