Compact Alternator, Disassemble (Bosch)

Loosen pulley nut. Remove pulley from armature shaft.

Counterhold pulley with commercially available locking band (see illus. I).

Loosen bolts from housing cover (1, see illus. II). Remove housing cover from alternator.

Unscrew fastening bolts from electronic regulator (2, see illus. III).

Unclip electronic regulator sidewards from brackets with suitable tool (see illus. I).

Note carbon brushes when removing electronic regulator. Risk of breakage!

Mark position of housing halves to each other (see illus. II).

Remove through bolts from alternator (1, see illus. III).

Remove rear housing with rectifier bridge and stator winding from front housing (see illus. I).

Remove bearing cover bolts (1, see illus. II) from front housing.

Pull armature shaft with bearings forwards out of housing (see illus. III).

Remove dust cap from rear bearing.

Remove bearing from armature shaft only if defective. Do not re-install bearing removed from armature shaft.

Remove rear bearing with commercially available bearing puller from armature shaft. Remove spacer washer (1), front bearing (2) and bearing cover (3) with commercially available bearing puller from armature shaft.
