Engine Test (Petrol)
This section describes tests which may already be familiar from the TECH 80 diagnostic programs. These tests are used for rapid localisation of faults which can occur to fundamental engine functions (compression, alternator, ignition, etc.).
As a pre-condition for all of the tests, ensure that no fault codes are stored in the memory of the engine management system. If the engine telltale is illuminated when the engine is running, the fault code must first be read and the fault must be rectified using the TECH 1/2 checking procedures.
All instructions on the test sheets must be followed as closely as possible.
If a test procedure has to be repeated, depress the [REPEAT TEST] key on the TECH 31 and restart the test using the instructions listed under the "Procedure".
Once a test has been completed, the vehicle must be restored to its original condition (reconnect detached plugs, re-insert relays or fuses).
