Servotronic System Modification F7: PROGRAMMING
Note:
Carry out this programming only if a new control unit is to be installed in the vehicle or a control unit is transferred from one vehicle to another. Otherwise reprogramming of the control unit is not necessary, since the programmable characteristic curves only have minor differences so that hardly any difference is noticeable in driving.
When programming, note the following, since otherwise the control unit uses the wrong characteristic curves internally.
When installing a new Servotronic control unit, ensure that the same characteristic curve is programmed as was also programmed in the old control unit. If the control unit removed is defective and the programming code cannot be read out with TECH 1, the originally programmed code ex works can be recognized from the label attached to the wiring harness plug of the electrohydraulic converter. This label is marked with a colour code. The following list allocates the colours to the characteristic curves:

Note:
The Servotronic power steering system offers an advantage over the previous system, in that various characteristic curves can be programmed which cause a modification of the steering power required.
Currently there is a choice of three curves.
