Remove
For vehicles with height adjustable steering column assembly: Remove steering column assembly – see operation "Steering Column Assembly, Remove and Install". For vehicles with non-adjustable steering column assembly: Remove steering shaft – see operation "Upper Steering Shaft, Replace"
Remove clamp bolt (1) for steering gear. Remove disc joint.
Install
Push disc joint onto steering shaft – if stiff, slightly widen mounts on disc joint for steering shaft and steering gear.
For vehicles with non-adjustable steering column assembly: Install steering shaft – see operation "Upper Steering Shaft, Replace" Carefully push steering shaft into disc joint. For vehicles with height adjustable steering column assembly: Install steering column assembly – see operation "Steering Column Assembly, Remove and Install". Carefully push steering shaft into disc joint.
Connect clamp bolts (2 and 3) – tightening torque 22 Nm / 16 lbf. ft.
