Tailgate
A side opening tailgate is introduced on the 5-door model for Model Year 1995«.
The tailgate is hinged at the left side rear pillar for both left and right hand drive models.
The door supports the centrally mounted spare wheel.
The tailgate handle and rear screen pushbutton are located in the right hand side of the tailgate.
The tailgate is fitted with a stay, which can be used to hold the tailgate in the half or fully open positions.

Other features of the tailgate are:
- Reflector at the end of the tailgate.
- Alarm disable (where fitted) for loadspace access.
- Central locking mechanism available as an option.
Depressing the pushbutton in the tailgate releases the rear screen.
The rear screen is now fitted with an initial lift facility. Each gas strut is connected to the rear screen by a lever and wheel arrangement. Releasing the rear screen allows the gas struts to force the wheel against the body thereby raising the rear screen sufficiently to clear the tailgate.
