Ignition, Primary (Only Std, Except Multec)

Measurement:	Plot of the primary voltage with the engine idling (single display).
Check Objective:	Analysis of the primary voltage generated in the engine control unit.

Preparation

Caution - high voltage! Observe safety advice!

Engine oil temperature > 80 �C.

Connections

INPUT A	COM/TRIGGER
Connect the red measurement lead to terminal x (as per the wiring diagram) of the ignition coil plug. Connect the ground lead to the ground.

Procedure

Start the engine and allow it to idle.

Reference Curve

If no signal can be detected in one ignition circuit, check the corresponding control wire for continuity and if necessary replace the engine control unit.
