The brake lines from the brake master cylinder are connected directly to the hydraulic control unit and continue to the brake pistons, so that the pressure for the brake piston can be independently regulated.
The hydraulic control unit used in the Frontera consists basically of eight solenoid valves, two low pressure accumulators and one electrically driven dual circuit return pump.
Each wheel is allocated two solenoid valves. This division is called a 4 channel system.
One brake master cylinder circuit supplies the front wheels and the other circuit supplies the rear wheels (front/rear brake circuit split).
· Service
Close off brake line connections immediately after removing the hydraulic control unit to prevent brake fluid escaping and ingress of contamination.
