Block Diagram for Engine Cooling Module
The fan for the engine cooling module of engines Z 10 XE and Z 12 XE has one speed. The fan of the engine cooling module of engines Z 14 XE, Y 17 DT and Y 17 DTL has two speeds and is switched at the first speed via a series resistor.
The fans are activated via relays that are installed in the central electrics module (relay box in engine compartment).
The coolant temperature is measured by just one coolant temperature sensor and analysed by the engine control unit. Depending on the coolant temperature, the radiator fan relays are activated.
