How to Replace the Thermostat Opel Calibra I

Note:

For warranty reasons, thermostat is only supplied in assembly with thermostat housing.

Lower coolant hose from radiator - collect coolant.

Remove intake bridge - see operation "Intake Bridge, Remove and Install".

Remove oil dipstick from oil dipstick guide tube.

Fastening bolt (1) from cylinder head.

Remove engine transport shackle and remove coolant pipe from thermostat housing.

Remove seal rings from coolant pipe.

Remove fastening bolts (1) from cylinder block and thermostat housing with thermostat.

Clean sealing surfaces.

New thermostat housing with new seal ring to cylinder block - 20 Nm/15 lbf. ft.

Slide new seal rings (1) onto coolant pipe.

Coat seal rings lightly with Silicone Grease

19 70 206 (90 167 353).

Attach fastening bolt (1) with engine transport shackle and coolant pipe to cylinder head -

20 Nm/15 lbf. ft.

Insert oil dipstick into oil dipstick guide tube.

Install intake bridge - see operation

"Intake Bridge, Remove and Install"

Top up cooling system - see operation

"Cooling System, Top up and Bleed" and

"Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
