SYSTEM CHECK
- Before beginning system check, turn ignition on. Ensure there is battery voltage from power window circuit breaker, located in fuse block. Ensure master switch ground circuit is complete.
- With all windows closed, turn ignition switch to RUN position. Briefly (less than .3 second) press left front window switch down. Window should descend a small distance, then stop.
- Press left front window switch down and release (more than .3 second). Window should descend completely (express mode).
- Press left front window switch up. Window should raise as long as switch is held up, then stop when switch is released (no express). Repeat step 3). While window is moving down in express mode, press switch upward. Window should stop express decent.
- Lower and raise other windows from master switch. All windows should operate quietly and smoothly through full range of travel.
- Lower and raise each window from window switches. All windows should operate quietly and smoothly through full range of travel. Note any symptoms and proceed to appropriate test.
WINDOWS DO NOT OPERATE
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between ground and Brown wire terminal at master switch connector. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for poor connection at master switch. If connection is okay, repair open in Brown wire between power window 30-amp circuit breaker and master switch.
- Backprobe between Brown wire and Black wire terminals (ground) of master switch connector. If test light is on, check for poor connection at master switch. If connection is okay, replace master switch. If test light is off, check for poor connection at ground connection. If connection is okay, repair open in Black wire between master switch and ground connection.
LEFT FRONT WINDOW DOES NOT OPERATE
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between ground and Brown wire terminal at express down module connector. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, repair open in Brown wire between express down module and power window 30-amp circuit breaker.
- Backprobe between Gray wire and Dark Blue wire terminals at master switch connector. While observing test light, press left front window switch at master switch to up and down positions. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for poor connections at express down module. Repair as necessary.
- Backprobe between Dark Blue wire and Brown wire terminals at express down module connector. While observing test light, press left front window switch at master switch to up and down positions. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for poor connections at master switch. If connections are okay, replace master switch.
- Backprobe between Brown wire and Dark Blue wire terminals at left front window motor connector. While observing test light, press left front window switch at master switch to up and down positions. If test light is on, check for poor connection at left front window motor. If connection is okay, replace motor. If test light is off, repair open in Brown wire or Dark Blue wire between master switch and left front window motor.
MASTER SWITCH INOPERATIVE, INDIVIDUAL SWITCHES ARE OKAY
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between ground and Brown wire terminal at master switch connector. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, repair open in Brown wire between master switch and power window 30-amp circuit breaker.
- Backprobe between Tan wire and Light Blue wire terminals at master switch connector. Press right front window switch at master switch to up and down position. If test light is on, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections. Repair as necessary. If test light is off, check for poor connection at master switch connector. Repair as necessary. If connection is okay, replace master switch.
RIGHT FRONT, LEFT REAR OR RIGHT REAR WINDOW IS INOPERATIVE AT
INDIVIDUAL SWITCH, OPERATES AT MASTER SWITCH
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between ground and Dark Blue wire or Brown wire terminal at inoperative window switch connector. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, repair open in Brown wire between inoperative window switch and power window 30-amp circuit breaker. Check Dark Blue wire for open or short to ground. If wires are okay, replace master switch.
- Backprobe between Dark Blue wire or Brown wire and Purple wire (Tan wire at right window switch) terminals at inoperative window switch connector. While observing test light, press inoperative window switch to up and down positions. If test light is on, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections. Repair as necessary. If test light is off, check for poor connection at inoperative switch. Repair as necessary. If connection is okay, replace inoperative window switch.
MASTER SWITCH, OPERATES AT INDIVIDUAL SWITCH
Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between ground and Brown wire terminal at master switch connector. If test light is on, check for poor connections at master switch. If connections are okay, replace master switch. If test light is off, repair open in Brown wire between master switch and power window 30-amp circuit breaker.
ONE WINDOW (EXCEPT LEFT FRONT) INOPERATIVE FROM MASTER &
INDIVIDUAL SWITCH, ALL OTHERS OPERATE
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between Dark Blue wire and Brown wire terminals at inoperative window motor connector. While observing test light, press inoperative window switch to up and down positions. If test light is off, go to next step. If test light is on, check for poor connection at inoperative window motor. If connection is okay, replace inoperative window motor.
- Backprobe between Brown wire or Dark Blue wire terminals at inoperative window switch connector and other 2 wire terminals from master switch to inoperative window switch connector. For wire identification, see «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32512-S28695085132001010900000) . If test light is on at all terminals,, go to next step. If test light is off at any terminal, check for poor connection at master switch. If connection is okay, repair open in appropriate wire(s) to inoperative window switch. If wire(s) are okay, replace master switch.
- Backprobe between Dark Blue wire or Brown wire terminals and Brown wire terminal (to motor) at inoperative window switch connector. While observing test light, press inoperative window switch to up and down positions. If test light is off, check for poor connection at inoperative window switch. If connection is okay, replace switch. If test light is on, check for poor connection at inoperative window motor, or check for open in Dark Blue wire or Brown wire between switch and motor. If connection and wires are okay, replace inoperative window motor.
EXPRESS DOWN DOES NOT OPERATE
Check for open in Dark Blue wire between express down module and master switch. Repair wire as necessary. If wire is okay, check for poor connections at express down module Brown wire or Dark Blue wire terminals. If connections are okay, replace express down module.
