Engine Code & Partial VIN Oldsmobile Cutlass VI

Mechanical

An engine code (3 characters) and a partial VIN (9 characters) are stamped on cylinder block, in one of the following places

  1. Top of cylinder block, above front cover.
  2. On cylinder block flange, where engine mates to transaxle (may be on either side of engine).

Engine code L82 identifies 3.1L V6 SFI engine.
