Headlight System - Automatic Control: Diagnosis Oldsmobile Cutlass VI

TROUBLE SHOOTING

  1. Check RH HDLP fuse (15-amp), LH HDLP fuse (15-amp) and HTR A/C IGN fuse (10-amp) in underhood bussed electrical center. If foglights do not operate properly, check FOG LPS fuse (10-amp) in right instrument panel bussed electrical center.
  2. Using scan tool, check for BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If any BCM DTCs are set, see appropriate «BODY CONTROL MODULE»(ref-32837) article.
  3. If one headlight or foglight does not work, check bulb, connections and related wiring. See appropriate wiring diagram in HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS article. Ensure all ground connections are clean and tight.
  4. Check for poor connections or partially broken wire inside of insulation which could cause an intermittent. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment.

DIAGNOSIS & TESTING

WARNINGBefore servicing instrument panel components on vehicles with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system, disable SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.

Note. Unless otherwise specified, make all measurements with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with an input impedance of 10 megohms.
