REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES
| CAUTION | Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components. |
Removal
- Disconnect the negative battery negative cable. Remove the vacuum brake booster hose.
- Remove the battery positive lead from the solenoid. (Scheme 1) Remove the starter solenoid S-terminal lead nut from the solenoid. (Scheme 2) Remove the starter solenoid S-terminal lead from the solenoid.
- Remove the starter mount bolt and nut. Remove the starter motor. (Scheme 3)

Installation
- Install the starter motor. Install the starter motor mount bolt and nut. (Scheme 3) Tighten the starter mount bolt and nut to specifications. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-168791-S19250269432004111700000).
- Connect the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid and secure the cable with a nut. (Scheme 1) Tighten the positive cable nut to specifications. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-168791-S19250269432004111700000).
- Install the starter solenoid S-terminal lead to the solenoid and secure the lead with a nut. (Scheme 2) Tighten the S-terminal nut to specifications. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-168791-S19250269432004111700000).
- Install the vacuum brake booster hose. Connect the battery negative cable. Tighten cable to specifications. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-168791-S19250269432004111700000).
