Entertainment Schematic Icons Icon Icon Definition CAUTION: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions: Air bag deployment Personal injury Unnecessary SIR system repairs In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines: Refer to COMPONENT LOCATIONS in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM in SIR. IMPORTANT: Twisted-pair wires provide an effective "shield" that helps protect sensitive electronic components from electrical interference. If the wires were covered with shielding, install new shielding. In order to prevent electrical interference from degrading the performance of the connected components, you must maintain the proper specification when making any repairs to the twisted-pair wires shown : The wires must be twisted a minimum of 9 turns per 31 cm (12 in) as measured anywhere along the length of the wires. The outside diameter of the twisted wires must not exceed 6.0 mm (0.2 in)

Test Description
The numbers below Refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
- 2: Lack of communication may be due to a partial malfunction of the class 2 serial data circuit or due to a total malfunction of the class 2 serial data circuit. The specified procedure will determine the particular condition.
- 5: The presence of DTCs which begin with "U" indicate some other module is not communicating. The specified procedure will compile all the available information before tests are performed.
| Step | Action | Yes | No |
| 1 | Install a scan tool. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Does the scan tool power up? | Go to Step 2 | Go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP in Data Link Communications |
| 2 | Attempt to establish communication with the following: Radio Amplifier Body control module (BCM) Auxiliary HVAC control module Does the scan tool communicate with the radio, amplifier, BCM, and auxiliary HVAC control module? | Go to Step 3 | Go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 D in Data Link Communications |
| 3 | IMPORTANT: The engine may start during the following step. Turn OFF the engine as soon as you have observed the Crank power mode. Access the Class 2 Power Mode in the Diagnostic Circuit Check on the scan tool. Rotate the ignition switch through all positions while observing the ignition switch power mode parameter. Does the ignition switch parameter reading match the ignition switch position for all switch positions? | Go to Step 4 | Go to POWER MODE MISMATCH in Body Control System |
| 4 | Select the following display DTCs function on the scan tool: Radio Amplifier Body control module (BCM) Auxiliary HVAC control module Does the scan tool display any DTCs? | Go to Step 5 | Go to Symptoms - Entertainment |
| 5 | Does the scan tool display any DTCs which begin with a "U"? | Go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 D in Data Link Communications | Go to Step 6 |
| 6 | Does the scan tool display DTC B1000? | Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Body Control System | Go to Step 7 |
| 7 | Does the scan tool display DTC B1327? | Go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) LIST | Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List |
| IMPORTANT |
| The engine may start during the following step. Turn OFF the engine as soon as you have observed the Crank power mode. |
Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System
The number below Refer to the step number on the diagnostic table.
- 2: This step verifies that the steering wheel convenience switch is stuck. The convenience switches operate in the 123-247 count range. The value given is the normal condition that exists when no switch is activated.
| Step | Action | Value(s) | Yes | No |
| Schematic Reference: Radio/Audio System Schematics |
| 1 | Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System? | | Go to Step 2 | Go to Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System |
| 2 | Install a scan tool. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. With a scan tool, observe the Steering Wheel Controls parameter in the TBC data list. Does the Steering Wheel Controls parameter indicate the specified range? | 0-7 Counts | Go to Diagnostic Aids | Go to Step 3 |
| 3 | Replace the steering wheel control switch. Refer to STEERING WHEEL CONTROL SWITCH ASSEMBLY in Steering Wheel and Column. Did you complete the replacement? | | Go to Step 4 | |
| 4 | Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text. Does the DTC reset? | | Go to Step 2 | System OK |
Symptoms - Entertainment
| IMPORTANT | Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System before using the Symptom Tables in order to verify that all of the following are true: There are no DTCs set. The control modules can communicate via the serial data link. Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions.
