Removal and Installation
| WARNING | Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high-pressure engine coolant escaping from the radiator. |
REMOVAL
| CAUTION | Perform when the engine is cold. |

- Drain engine coolant from the radiator. Refer to " «CHANGING ENGINE COOLANT»(ref-396293-S16500542152011050400000) ".
- Remove engine room cover, if equipped. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-396294-S24660451982011050400000) ".
- Remove air cleaner and air duct assembly. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-396294-S10579047192011050400000) ".
- Disconnect A/T fluid cooler hoses. Install blind plug to avoid leakage of A/T fluid.
- Disconnect radiator lower hose from the radiator. CAUTION: Do not allow coolant to contact drive belt.
- Remove the lower radiator shroud. Release the tabs, pull lower radiator shroud rearwards and down to remove.
- Disconnect the radiator upper hose and the coolant reservoir hose from the radiator. CAUTION: Do not allow coolant to contact drive belt.
- Remove the radiator shroud upper bolts and remove the radiator shroud upper (A).
- Remove the upper radiator mounting bolts and rubbers.
- Remove the A/C condenser bolts and brackets. NOTE: Lift A/C condenser up and forward to remove from radiator.
- Remove A/T oil cooler bolts and oil cooler from radiator and position aside.
- Lift up and remove the radiator.
| CAUTION | Do not damage or scratch air conditioner condenser, A/T oil cooler or radiator core when removing. |

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- Partially drain engine coolant from the radiator. Refer to " «CHANGING ENGINE COOLANT»(ref-396293-S16500542152011050400000) ".
- Remove the lower and upper radiator shrouds. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-396293-S03400390912011050400000) ".
- Remove the drive belt. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-396294-S18026768292011050400000) ".
- Remove the cooling fan.
- Remove the fan bracket, if necessary.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- Install cooling fan with its front mark "F" facing front of engine.
| CAUTION | When removing water pump, be careful not to get engine coolant on drive belt. Water pump cannot be disassembled and should be replaced as a unit. |
- Drain engine coolant from the radiator. Refer to " «CHANGING ENGINE COOLANT»(ref-396293-S16500542152011050400000) ". CAUTION: Perform when the engine is cold.
- Remove the engine cooling fan (crankshaft driven type). Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (CRANKSHAFT DRIVEN TYPE)»(ref-396293-S31970198812011050400000) ".
- Remove the water pump pulley.
- Remove the water pump.
- Engine coolant will leak from the cylinder block, so have a receptacle ready below.
| CAUTION | Handle water pump vane so that it does not contact any other parts. |
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- After installation bleed the air from the cooling system. Refer to " «CHANGING ENGINE COOLANT»(ref-396293-S16500542152011050400000) ".
Removal of Thermostat
- Partially drain engine coolant from the radiator. Refer to " «CHANGING ENGINE COOLANT»(ref-396293-S16500542152011050400000) ". CAUTION: Perform when engine is cold.
- Disconnect the water suction hose from the water inlet.
- Remove the water inlet and thermostat.
Removal of Thermostat Housing, Water Outlet and Heater Pipe
- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-396294-S11964505632011050400000) ".
- Remove the thermostat housing, water outlet and heater pipe.
Removal of Water Cut Valve
- Partially drain engine coolant from the radiator. Refer to " «CHANGING ENGINE COOLANT»(ref-396293-S16500542152011050400000) ". CAUTION: Perform when the engine is cold.
- Disconnect the water cut valve connector.
- Disconnect the water hoses from the water cut valve.
- Remove the water cut valve.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
Installation of Thermostat
- Install the thermostat with the whole circumference of each flange part fit securely inside the rubber ring as shown in figure.
- Install the thermostat with the jiggle valve facing upwards.
