Scheme 1: SERVICE INDICATOR & WARNING LIGHTS

OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT

Light comes on with the ignition switch in the ON position as a bulb check, but should go out shortly after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates low oil pressure. Have the system checked and serviced immediately. DO NOT operate vehicle until cause is located and corrected.

CHARGE WARNING LIGHT

Light comes on with the ignition switch in the ON position as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates possible fault in the charging system. Have the system checked and serviced promptly. DO NOT drive vehicle if alternator belt is loose or broken.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

Light comes on with the ignition switch in the ON position as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started. Light will also come on with the parking brake fully or partially engaged. If light remains on or comes on at any other time, it indicates low brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir or the parking brake switch may be damaged. Add brake fluid as necessary and have the system checked and serviced immediately. DO NOT continue driving if further trouble is experienced.

CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

CHECK light is designed to come on briefly with the ignition switch in the ON position as a bulb check. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates fault in the emission control system. An emission component may not be functioning properly and the system should be checked and serviced as soon as possible. Prolonged driving without appropriate service may affect fuel economy, driveability and may cause damage to the emission system.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

Light comes on with the ignition switch in the ON position as a system check and goes out after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a malfunction in the anti-lock braking system. Have the system checked and serviced promptly. The regular braking system will still operate normally, but without anti-lock function.

OVERDRIVE OFF INDICATOR LIGHT (AUTO. TRANS. VEHICLES)

O/D OFF light comes on when the overdrive switch is set in the OFF position.

SENSOR WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

SENSOR light comes on with the ignition switch in the ON position as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started. Light will also come on at 30,000 miles, 60,000 miles and 90,000 miles as a maintenance service reminder for the exhaust gas sensor in the emission control system. The exhaust gas sensor should be checked and serviced as necessary when light comes on. Warning light will no longer be in operation after service has been performed on the exhaust gas sensor at the 90,000 mile service.

STOPLIGHT/TAILLIGHT WARNING LIGHT

If light comes on when engine is running and light switch ON, or when brake pedal is depressed, one or more of the stoplight/taillight bulbs is burned out and should be replaced.

CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

CRUISE CONT light comes on when the cruise control main switch is turned on.

CRUISE INDICATOR LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

CRUISE light indicates vehicle speed is being controlled by the cruise control system.
