Scheme 6: Precautions for Removing Battery Terminal
  1. When removing the 12V battery terminal, turn OFF the ignition switch and wait at least 30 seconds. NOTE: ECU may be active for several tens of seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF. If the battery terminal is removed before ECU stops, then a DTC detection error or ECU data corruption may occur.
  2. For vehicles with the 2-batteries, be sure to connect the main battery and the sub battery before turning ON the ignition switch. NOTE: If the ignition switch is turned ON with any one of the terminals of main battery and sub battery disconnected, then DTC may be detected.
  3. After installing the 12V battery, always check "Self Diagnosis Result" of all ECUs and erase DTC. NOTE: The removal of 12V battery may cause a DTC detection error.

Description

Selection pointsSelection partsSelection itemsSelection methods
Between cylinder block and crankshaftMain bearingMain bearing grade (bearing thickness)Determined by match of cylinder block bearing housing grade (inner diameter of housing) and crankshaft journal grade (outer diameter of journal)
Between crankshaft and connecting rodConnecting rod bearingConnecting rod bearing grade (bearing thickness)Combining service grades for connecting rod big end diameter and crankshaft pin outer diameter determine connecting rod bearing selection.
Between cylinder block and pistonPiston and piston pin assembly (piston is available together with piston pin as an assembly.)Piston grade (piston outer diameter)Piston grade = cylinder bore grade (inner diameter of bore)
  1. The identification grade stamped on each part is the grade for the dimension measured in new condition. This grade cannot apply to reused parts.
  2. For reused or repaired parts, measure the dimension accurately. Determine the grade by comparing the measurement with the values of each selection table.
  3. For details of the measurement method of each part, the reuse standards and the selection method of the selective fitting parts, refer to the text.

Scheme 7: WHEN NEW CYLINDER BLOCK IS USED
  1. Check the cylinder bore grade on rear left side of cylinder block (L), and select piston of the same grade.
  2. If there is a correction stamp mark on the cylinder block, use it as a correct reference.

Scheme 8: WHEN CYLINDER BLOCK IS REUSED
  1. Measure the cylinder bore inner diameter. Refer to " «CYLINDER BLOCK»(ref-621377-S05983024012014061000000) ".
  2. Determine the bore grade by comparing the measurement with the values under the cylinder bore inner diameter of the "Piston Selection Table".
  3. Select piston of the same grade.
