Power Windows: Other Nissan Altima U13

POWER & GROUND

1. Turn ignition on. Check for 12 volts between White/Red wire and Black wire of door lock timer (located under dash to right of fuse block). If 12 volts is present, go to next step. If 12 volts is not present, check power source, fuses, ground and related circuits.
2. Check for 12 volts between White/Red wire and Black wire of power window amplifier. Amplifier is located in each passenger door, near power window switch. On driver's door power window switch, check for 12 volts between Green/Red wire and ground.
3. If 12 volts is present, power circuits are okay. If 12 volts is not present, check power source, fuses, ground and related circuits.

DRIVER'S WINDOW NOT WORKING; OTHERS OKAY

1. Remove 6-pin connector from driver's door power window switch. Apply battery voltage between Blue/Red wire and Blue/Black wire. Window should move up or down.
2. Reverse battery leads. Window should move in other direction. If window moves up and down, replace switch. If window does not move, check circuits between driver's door power window switch and window motor.
3. Repair circuits as necessary. If circuits are okay, apply battery voltage between power window motor terminals. If motor works, recheck circuits. If motor does not work, replace motor.

PASSENGER WINDOW(S) NOT WORKING FROM ANY SWITCH

1. Remove 10-pin connector from door window amplifier. Apply battery voltage between Blue/Red wire and Blue/Black wire. Window should move up or down.
2. Reverse battery leads. Window should move in other direction. If window moves up and down, go to PASSENGER WINDOW NOT WORKING; DRIVER'S WINDOW OKAY. If window does not move, check circuits between power window switch and window motor.
3. Repair circuits as necessary. If circuits are okay, apply battery voltage between power window motor terminals. If motor works, recheck circuits. If motor does not work, replace motor.

PASSENGER WINDOW NOT WORKING; DRIVER'S WINDOW OKAY

1. Remove 10-pin connector from power window amplifier. Turn ignition on. Turn main window lock switch on. Check for battery voltage between White/Red wire and ground.
2. Battery voltage should be present. Turn main window lock switch off. Battery voltage should not be present. If voltage is as described, go to step 4). If voltage is not as described, disconnect 12-pin connector from power window switch on driver's door.
3. Check continuity of White/Red wire between driver's door power window switch connector and power window amplifier connector. If continuity is present and circuit is not grounded, replace power window switch on driver's door. If continuity is not present or circuit is grounded, repair circuits.
4. Check continuity between terminals of passenger door switch. See PASSENGER DOOR SWITCHES table. If power window switch on passenger's door tests okay, replace window amplifier. If power window switch does not test okay, inspect switch. Replace switch or repair circuits between switch and amplifier as necessary.

PASSENGER DOOR SWITCHES

PASSENGER WINDOW(S) WORKS FROM SWITCH ON DOOR ONLY, NOT FROM DRIVER'S SWITCH

1. Remove 10-pin connector from window amplifier. Turn main lock switch to off. Check voltage between Green/White or Green/Red wire and ground.
2. With main switch in UP position, 12 volts should be present. With main switch in DOWN position, about 4 volts should be present. With main switch in neutral position, about zero volts should be present. If voltage is as specified, replace window amplifier.
3. If voltage is not as specified, disconnect 12-pin connector from driver's door power window switch. Check for continuity between Green/White or Green/Red wire at passenger's door power window switch connector and Green/Red, Green/Black and Green/White wires at driver's door power window switch connector.
4. If any circuit is open or shorted to ground, repair circuit. If no short or open circuits are found, replace driver's door power window switch.

AMPLIFIER (DRIVER'S POWER WINDOW SWITCH)

Driver's door main switch has power amplifier. To test amplifier, see appropriate test under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
