VEHICLE EMISSION CONTROL INFORMATION LABEL

The Vehicle Emission Control Information Label is located under the hood, in the engine compartment. All models have a Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label. The VECI label is located on underside of hood. The label cannot be removed without defacing label information and destroying the label. The label contains the vehicle's emission specifications and vacuum hose routing. All hoses must be connected and routed according to the label. There are unique labels for vehicles built for sale in the state of California and the country of Canada. Canadian labels are written in both the English and French languages. The VECI label contains the following

  1. Engine Family and Displacement.
  2. Evaporative Family.
  3. Emission Control System Schematic.
  4. Certification Application.
  5. Engine Timing Specifications (If Adjustable).
  6. Idle Speeds (If Adjustable).
  7. Spark Plug and Gap.

VEHICLE CERTIFICATION LABEL

The Vehicle Certification Label is located on the lower left A-pillar along with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plate. The label lists the following

  1. Month and year of vehicle manufacture.
  2. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). The gross front and rear axle weight ratings (GAWR's) are based on a minimum rim size and maximum cold tire inflation pressure.
  3. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
  4. Type of vehicle.
  5. Bar code.
  6. Paint and Trim codes.
  7. Country of origin.
