KEY INTERLOCK SYSTEM
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Depress brake pedal and ensure gearshift lever cannot be moved from "P" position. Ensure gearshift lever button cannot be pushed. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Depress brake pedal and push gearshift lever button. Ensure gearshift lever can be moved from "P" position. Ensure gearshift lever moves smoothly.
- Ensure ignition key cannot be turned to OFF position in any gearshift lever position other than "P" position. Ensure ignition key turns smoothly to OFF position when gearshift lever is placed in "P" position and gearshift lever button is released. If key interlock system operation is not as specified, adjust key interlock cable. See «KEY INTERLOCK CABLE»(ref-10059-S04885733682000110700000) under ADJUSTMENTS.
SHIFT LOCK SYSTEM
- Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Release brake pedal and push gearshift lever button. Ensure gearshift lever cannot be moved from "P" position. With ignition switch in ACC position, depress brake pedal and push gearshift lever button. Ensure gearshift lever can be moved from "P" position.
- With gearshift lever in "R" position and ignition switch in ACC position, release brake pedal and push gearshift lever button. Ensure gearshift lever can be moved from "R" position to "P" position. If shift lock system operation is not as specified, adjust shift lock cable. See «SHIFT LOCK CABLE»(ref-10059-S17728182492000110700000) under ADJUSTMENTS.

Remove front console assembly. Move gearshift lever to "P" position. Loosen nut securing key interlock cable. Gently press lock cam "A" downward while pushing cable to take up slack. (Scheme 91) Tighten cable nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Install front console assembly.

Remove front console assembly. Move gearshift lever to "P" position and turn ignition switch to OFF position. Loosen nut securing key interlock cable. (Scheme 92) Gently push lock cam until pin stops in direction of arrow. Tighten cable nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Install front console assembly.

Remove front console assembly. Move gearshift lever to "P" position. Loosen nuts securing shift lock cable and remove washer and cotter pin at cable end. Turn lock cam counterclockwise to move set lever upward. Fit cutout in set lever on pin of lock cam "B". Gently press set lever downward while pushing cable to take up slack. (Scheme 93) Tighten cable nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Ensure cable end contacts pin on lock cam, and then install washer and cotter pin. Install front console assembly.

Remove front console assembly. Move gearshift lever to "P" position. Loosen nuts securing shift lock cable. (Scheme 94) Adjust shift lock cable so end of cable (Red mark) sits between lobe of lock cam, and then tighten cable nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Install front console assembly.
