(1) Coil primary circuit includes power transistor. For testing, see DISTRIBUTORLESS IGNITION SYSTEM (DIS) - 4-CYLINDER under IGNITION CHECKS in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article. (2) On ignition coils with classification mark "H", primary resistance should be 0.61-0.75 ohms and secondary resistance should be 12,200-16,400 ohms.

IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE - Ohms @ 68°F (20°C)

HIGH TENSION WIRE RESISTANCE

On Diamante or Mirage with 1.5L engine, wire resistance should not exceed 22,000 ohms. On all other models, wire resistance should not exceed 19,000 ohms.

WARNINGOn many models, improper arrangement of spark plug wires will cause miss firing and surge during high-speed operation. Ensure spark plug wires are routed as shown.
